Re: Guitar History, you knew it was coming

Due to my ever increasing dotage I don't remember the years but here goes in chronological order

Hofner Strat copy
Arbiter Les Paul Copy
Flying V Copy
Which I then traded  for a 335 Copy (Please note the copy trend)
Then got married with subsequent loss of revenue and a baby on the way so electric guitars were taboo
Some acoustic
Another acoustic
Another baby!
Martin DX1
Epiphone Les Paul Copy

Then a life changing event
Part ex'd the Martin and the Epi for my latest Muse

Paul Reid Smith 20th Anniversary Custom 24 10 top

Hey I'm worth it!

I'm now planning how to talk my wife into me getting a Gibson Les Paul, preferably a 59 Custom.

Peace and Jam

I can supply a fake receipt for the purposes of trickery on the one that you hold most dear. Cross my palm with silver and the secret to a happy and loving marriage can be yours and yours alone. smile

Re: Guitar History, you knew it was coming

My guitar history is WAY to easy hehe.

since Im still quite young, I havnt payed for my own guitars, I have got them as presents.

first I had this Qhiquita that my dad had bought ages ago, the reason to that i played it was because it was the only guitar in the house that my dad allowed me to play.

Then Accoustic guitar that my mum broke by accident after one of my gigs.

before it broke i was given my own electric guitar, a Squire Bullet strat, wich sounds REALLY bad i think, but its feels ok for a cheap guitar i think.

Then I got this Ibanez western accoustic guitar wich I still use.

And last year I got myself an old "one-of-a-kind" eastone guitar.
Nowdays eastone makes only beginners guitars, but mine was made quite long ago (i guess) so it costed a lil bit more than a beginner guitar.
Its like hmm...orange-red colour gold hardware and a "bigsby" (it does not say bigsby) Vibrato, it looks like a mix of a Brian Setzer gretsch and like my bros Epiphone Es 335 DOT.

Anyway now after getting some taste i dont like that guitar so much, it looks better than it sounds.

So Im saving for an Fender Stratocaster. Probably a Classic Player 60's (I can only afford the mexican made sad )

Anyway thats it!

Re: Guitar History, you knew it was coming

Simon, my first strat was a Highway strat I picked it over £1500 + guitars I think they go for about £400 or somet. Apparently I was quite lucky with it (according to local guitar shop) but you should give them a try, it has a fast neck and a real warm resonance (because of the thin laquer coating which is also its downfall because it scratches easy) and everything is american made on it.. (not that I think it makes much of a difference anymore)

I dont think i'd ever sell it brilliant guitar to play people always comment on the tone I get from it.. Really do recommend them or atleast mine :x I still pick it up over anything else.

Re: Guitar History, you knew it was coming

2001 Amer Strat with SD Surfers
2004 Mex Strat  with Lollar Blonds
1997 Calif Tele with Stock Fralins
2007 Amer Chestnut Tele (goldtop finish) with Custom Novak handwounds by local Ak guitar builder

In the works for 2008   Chestnut Strat by Ron Kirn, will have Novak pups.

Also kicking around a chestnut LP by Kirn when wifey gives the big ok.

And finally, starting my own build this summer, once snow's gone, will be a tele; would like to try Keystones or Don Mares if the build turns out well.

Amer Chestnut was used 150 years back for guitars in Eastern USA; blight wiped pretty much it all out, extinct wood.   Light as swamp ash, nice rich grain with fine worm holes that darken up, stand out with natural or oil type finish.  I tore down a few barns 20 years back, sliced up beams,  and have some stashed away.  Kinda like how it looks.

Really? i have actually never tried em, I think they are a little bit more expensive than the classic player but if its really good than its probably worth it!
You use the HSS one or the one with single coils only? i prefer single coils by some reason.

Will try one next time i vist a guitar shop, Thats for sure!

Re: Guitar History, you knew it was coming

single coil m8y smile it really is a dream to play. theres also MIJ Fenders which go for quite cheap the quality on them guitars its top notch, just gotta keep an open mind about what you buy big_smile
