I downloaded this and my computer says that I do not have the correct file program to open this? Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Rhonda

Thanks,

The files are encoded in a format called FLAC.

If you go to this page, and download the windows installer, it will allow you to play the files on your computer.  It will also install a small application that will convert the FLAC files to WAV files and you will be able to burn them to an audio CD.

Hope this help!

Rhonda:  I first discovered BitTorrent filesharing about 2 years ago thanks to a taper from the Joe B. board...it can be sort of a frustrating process to get started but well worth it once you do.

There are at least two things you'll need:  A BitTorrent client (I use Azureus: http://www.getazureus.com/) to download the files using the peer-to-peer connections; and a FLAC Decoder (I've used FLAC Frontend with many problems, and DBPoweramp: http://www.dbpoweramp.com/dmc.htm).  Both of these programs are free.  You pretty much have to have a broadband internet connection too or else it will be a frustratingly slow process.  Unless you already have a BitTorrent client, the file you downloaded is the torrent file itself, not the actual files.  The torrent file is just sort of like a menu or a direction to the actual files.

Once you install the BT client, you'll be able to download the actual files, assuming there's still at least a few people that are sharing them...the more sharers, the faster you can download as you connect to each one.  Once they're downloaded, you will need to convert the FLAC (Free Lossless Audio Codec) files to a .wav file or at least an mp3 file for you to burn them.  WinAmp has a plug-in you can download that will allow you to listen to them but I usually burn and delete.

It's a bit of up-front effort, but I've found some really great stuff, Joe & otherwise, on the filesharing sites.  If you want to drop me an email if you need some help getting started, feel free to e me at CarlJ at Aaaay Ohhhh Elllll dot com.  I'm no expert and there's plenty of good sites that will tell you what you need to know if you look around.  Just Google "bit torrent" and surf a bit.

Good luck!

Carl

What have you downloaded?  If you follow the link to the torrent page, you need to download and save the torrent file to your computer.  If you have downloaded a bit torrent client, you just need to double click the .torrent file and it should launch.  Once it launches, the files will be downloaded (this will take a little time, depending on how many people are connected to the torrent and how big the files).  Afterwards the files are downloaded, you will need to use a FLAC decoder to convert the files to WAV so you can burn them to audio CD.

Hope this helps.

Folks, this was posted and recorded as a 24 bit recording.  I have not downloaded it myself though.  It will only play if it is burned as a DVD-A.

To get it to play in a CD player, it needs to be downsampled to 16 bit.

That is absolutely incorrect.  It was already dithered and resampled to 16 bits.  Look at the transfer from Lee, it was done in Soundforge 7.0.

You can burn this directly to CD after you download it.

I stand corrected, if it's down to 16 bit, play/burn away.

Re: [BT] Joe Bonamassa 2006-07-22 La Zona Rosa Austin, TX

I downloaded the FLACs from shareeza(which automatically launched on my computer when I downloaded) after that well I'm lost. Everything that the computer promp[tedme to download, I did...remember, I'm a guitar player and my alphabet only goes to G..lol

I use Nero to burn from FLAC > WAV, it converts the files automatically.

I had very little problems with my virgin attempt at downloading. Enjoying the show as I type. Thanks for putting it up.

Would anybody be willing to share this show vie snail mail for trade or blanks & postage? I mostly get on the computer at work and can't use the torrents. We were in Austin that night at the Los Lonely Boys concert, but I knew a couple who went to this show and would love to share it with them. Thanks,
