I couldn't even finish your post Jim w/o pickin'up my acoustic and bangin' out some Capt. I've been a Funk fan since they hit the scene when I was in high school, but they lost me when they joined forces with Rundgren. Yes I have the Live album on vinyl as well as the eponymous red album, On Time, their first effort Survival, their weakest effort, and Closer To Home. I got a hold of Closer To Home on CD awhile back just so I could crank it on the road once again. By the way that post was like being put in the wayback machine, loved it. How'd you get the f-word in there?

Re: Favorite Live Albums???

Yes we do and and he can become quite moody at times. I got to practice what we preach. When I first read Bob's comments it reminded me of a period my older cousing chastised me for having all their albums. I did stop buying after Survival. I wore out the red album. Saw them with Savoy Brown the first time. Listening back on the old stuff you realize Farner was no guitar whizz but that band smoked live.

Re: Favorite Live Albums???

Speaking of live albums, here's a review I found of a few...including a review of our host's Shepherds Bush show.

Re: Favorite Live Albums???

I have given this a lot of thought....... there are soooooo many great Live recodings .... but it has to be only one .... no question.....

THIN LIZZY - Live and Dangerous.

I know it inside out, note for note ... its etched upon my soul.

The also rans would be:

Rush - Exit stage left
ACDC - If you want blood

ANDY is great but I tend to listed to the studio recordings more, that the only reason for not listing it.... just dont listen to it enough.

I came across their "Rich Man" cd in Best Buy about 2 years ago, while looking for something else. I snapped it up quickly...I think I still have the vinyl copy somewhere.

Allman Bros. - Live at Fillmore East
Joe Bonamassa - A New Day Yesterday Live

I assume in June, I'll be adding another one to the list!

Re: Favorite Live Albums???

I'm a little late coming to this thread...about 8 months from the looks of it! I'm with Jim regarding GFR's live album. It's audio quality is actually terrible, but it's full of great music and a classic in my book for sure.

One I didn't see mentioned is Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band's Live Bullet. I'm sure I've shared this before, but I was fortunate enough to see him/them during the tour that this album was taken from. Good old straight-up driving rock and roll.
