Topic: Has Joe done any instrumentals?

I love Joe's music and so does my 12 yr old niece. She wants me to use it for a slide show I'm making for her. But the words to his songs aren't really appropriate for this. They're pretty depressing. So has he done any music with more upbeat lyrics or are there any straight instrumentals I can use?

Re: Has Joe done any instrumentals?

Instrumentals:
Left Overs
Revenge Of The Ten Gallon Hat
Faux Mantini
Django
Palm Trees, Helicopters and Gasoline
India

Upbeat songs:
Mountain Time -  the live version on Joe's "Shepherds Bush" EP (available on iTunes) is especially good, but does contain crowd noise in a couple spots.
Waiting For Me
Around The Bend
Asking Around For You
Seagull
Jelly Roll

Quite a variety here.

not to mention his Bloodline original instrumental "The Storm" and A New Day Yesterday Live's cover of "Steppin' Out" and "Rice Pudding"

hmm... don't really think of Joe's lyrics as "depressing"... everyone has their own opinion I guess...

well it is largely the blues.  i wouldnt call it depressing either i dont cry after hearing about it but a lot of the subject matter you know is typical blues stuff.

Re: Has Joe done any instrumentals?

The reason I love the blues is because the music evokes emotion and it's usually about sadness or loneliness which is great. To be a good blues singer you have to sing with emotion and Joe does that really well. I guess you can sing happy songs with emotion but it's just not the same.

I'm glad I'll be able to use one of his songs for my niece's slideshow. She really loves him.

Oh I agree- blues most of the time isn't the most uplifting music to listen to... its just that Joe's music for some reason is the complete opposite to me- it gets me in a good mood no matter how I feel

Re: Has Joe done any instrumentals?

Amen, I came out of surgery back in Oct. after having a cancerous tumor removed and 66 staples holding my neck together. Needless to say my mind was racing wondering where my life was headed, so I buzzed the nurse and asked her to pass me my daypack I brought and pulled out my CD player and the CD's I brought, all Joe's stuff. I fired up those CD's and it immediately eased my worries at least until the next dose of morphine knocked me out, but then I just fired up those Joe tunes again. Listening to the blues counteracts the blues I'm feelin' when I got 'em.
