Topic: Why No Chicago-Area Shows??

Hey Joe! We're diggin' you down here in Indy! Loved the show at the Music Mill. My brother and 2 of his buddies came down from Steger, IL and we attended he show- it rocked. They are die-hard fans but they are bummed because there  are never any shows anywhere near the Chicago area except for the occasional guitar clinic.

I've created a whole legion of Joe Bonamassa fans in the Chicago area.  When is Joe's touring manager going to book some Chicago area shows??

Re: Why No Chicago-Area Shows??

Joe was in Crystal Lake, IL for two nights in May and will be in Appleton, WI next week (kinda' far, but well worth the drive!) Also, Shank Hall this Fall.
He needs to play Buddy Guy's!!!!!!

Re: Why No Chicago-Area Shows??

Joe played at Chord on Blues in St. Charles, Il. twice last year. I'm not sure why there was no return show this year. Right now, Shank Hall (December) is the closest show to Chicago.
Joe's also at the Oneida Casino in early December.

Re: Why No Chicago-Area Shows??

Frank, don't even tell me you missed Joe at Ribfest in Ft. Wayne last month!  I realize that's nowhere near Chicago, but it is just about the same distance from Chicago to Ft. Wayne as Chicago to Indy, isn't it?  Maybe?  Kinda?  The tix were only $6, it was a spectacular night for an outdoor concert,  and Joe played flawlessly for about an hour and a half.

Don't forget 4 nights in December at Oneida Casino across from Austin Straubel airport in Green Bay, WI. These are free shows and are usually packed (to put it mildly). The crowd is usually overflowing into the casino. So, you have to get there early. Personally, I think we need to look at a larger venue (which I'm sure we could also fill).

Donna,

Yes, I'm embarrased to say I missed the Ft. Wayne show. I've been working a ridiculous amount of OT, dealing w/personal issues and on stnadby all the damn time. How the heck are ya? It was goo d meeting you at teh show. My brother and his buddies are still raving about Joe at the Music Mill- they loved it, it was the holy grail of Joe B shows for them. Great music , good beer selection, 10 minutes from home and a non-smoking venue!

But it still doesn't answer the question of why there are no more Chicago area shows for Joe. House of Blues?? Southern Burb's venues??? I think they might be underestimating Joe's popularity in the Chicago area.

Green Bay WI is kinda far to drive, and so is Crystal Lake for that matter.

Anxiously holding my breath for another Indy date myself!

Re: Why No Chicago-Area Shows??

I asked about his coming to Indy, Chicago, St. Louis and never got a reply - we say him in St. Louis earlier but would love to see him again.  Joe, please get back to the midwest again soon.

Re: Why No Chicago-Area Shows??

Come on Illinois venues - we are begging!!! I'm so desperate to see a show, I'm considering driving to Wisconsin to see one (and we are talking a minimum of 6 hours of driving time).

What really boggles the mind is that they don't have any N Carolina or Hawaii dates and that's where two of the band members are from.

Blues ain't nothin' but a good woman gone bad.

ZCat - this is PCat (lol - real initials in name though),

Yahoo for the Big AK, I love that place and sure miss the northern lights and skiing in Alyeska.
Not to mention fishing on the Russian River, hiking Denalie and just watching the 5,000 bald eagles sitting a stone throw away in Homer.

Here's an EXCELLENT idea; let's talk to the ferry lines to start an annual summer trip. (The Matanuska is huge)
There's thousands of college students who do the summer roundtrip from Seattle to Skagway. IT's party week.

We could have Joe play on the solarium deck during the midnight sun -- now tell me that's not cool.

Also another awesome roadtrip for you would be Seattle in December @ Jazz Alley. Joe has 8 shows scheduled in 4 nights.
AK to Seattle is easy flight - Al and I are planning another roadtrip for then (maybe we hook up with Rockin Ron, Bill, Deb and crew)

OK, I got sold and you got me thinking of my ole home. So here's my deal.
E-mail me address and I'll send you a special Joe pic from my collection. I have two or three pic's around somewhere.

Crystal Lake is right up the road for Chicago!  You want Joe to play right in your backyard don't you? wink

Don't know where you're at in Chicago, but I travel from Crystal Lake to downtown Chicago and back every weekday and occasionally on weekends. It's an hour drive in moderate traffic.

No, no, no Bill S....we're down here in Indy! : )   Chicago just doesn't seem too far to go for a concert when you're in Indianapolis.  Plus, firin' frank has a brother and some buds in Chicago that are new Joe fans due to the show in INDY back in March.  So, what he's looking for/hoping for is a show in Indy or Chicago... or right in his backyard, right Frank???  He'd have a great cookout for Joe and the guys...then they could pretty much just jam in a relaxed atmosphere....doesn't that sound like fun??  (Hey Frank...are you getting this?  I just plugged YOUR backyard for a cookout/concert!   Remember..I live close by AND I'm a good table busser AND it was MY idea! : )

Still doesn't answer why Joe isn't playing around Chicago this year - last year he played at St. Charles, Dekalb, Decatur and St. Louis - where is he this year - we desperately need an Illinois show.

Ooops! I just assumed since firin' frank was asking for a show in Chicago, that he resided there. I can see where adding another hour to a five (?) hour drive would be tough.
