Topic: Hendrix Tribute show missing Joe...
i attended the Hendrix tribute Sat in Waterbury. Wild show with guitar greats being shuffled on and off stage all night. Very impressed with KWS who looks about 17 yrs od these days. Anyone who bashes him has not seen him play live. A surprise to me was Robert Randolph on steel guitar -Buddy Guy made a point to showcase Randolph which was nice of him. Eric Gale was also memorable but to me it seemed like he was making an effort to have his songs "all about him". Eric has a nice career ahead of him I would say. He actually reminded me of Hendrix at times with his southpaw playing and mannerisms. Buddy was Buddy with his always present showmanship effortless playing. Too many others to mention everyone.
All in all a night to remember although I am glad I brought my ear plugs along - after 100's of shows in my life I don't leave home without them! Can't understand why they have to play the music so loud in a small theatre to the point where the sound gets distorted. One obvious guitar great was missing...maybe next time he will be apart of it when the Hendrix Family gets this tour together. Probably for the best as Joe has been under the weather as of late.
