Re: Ladies in rock

You mean Little Feat?? Oh sure even though I don't have many of their records...I've got many albums by Max Merritt and the Meteors, Skyhooks, Aztecs, Hush and other aussie stuff.

We may be at cross purposes here. You appear to associate Little Feat with Aussie bands? I've not heard of any of those Aussie bands you mentioned. Little Feat were very American and were also 'connected' with Bonnie. Lowell George, a great slide guitar player, was one of many who died too young.

Re: Ladies in rock

*BLUSHING*...oh hell you are dead right....Little Feat are a HUGE American band!! I don't know why, but I always get mixed up with another band that's Australian!! I used to like LF way back when......

Who is the woman from Milwaukee that covers SRV and Hendrix?  I believe she is a local musician about 40.  I read about her in a guitar magazine a couple years ago and cannot find the article.

AHAAA!  Cruising around on the Grafton Blues site I finally found her.  It's Sue DaBaco.  Has anyone heard of her?

How about that Tai (I think it's something like Wilkenfield) that played with Jeff Beck at Crossroads...she rocked!

I think she was something ridiculous like NINETEEN when this was filmed!  Unbelievable talent and guts!  Here she is Bill........

I know that Joe could play one of those kid's guitars with the plastic strings and make it sound good-

Re: Ladies in rock

As well as a few that have been mentioned previously, such as Ann & Nancy Wilson, Amanda Marshall ( first album, anyway), Stevie Nicks, Shannon Curfmann, Shemekia Copeland and Deborah Coleman, I'd add  Sass Jordan.

Check out her album Rats.

Re: Ladies in rock

A good thread this one. I'm a huge fan of ladies in rock. The more of them, the better. Here's a  few of my favourites, a list I seem to keep adding to all the time.

Chantel McGregor
Heather Findlay
Anne-Marie Helder
Olivia Sparnenn
Kelly Richey
Susan Tedeschi
Erja Lyytinen
Dani Wilde
Joanne Shaw Taylor
Christine McVie
Stevie Nicks
Bonnie Raitt
Ann Wilson
Nancy Wilson
Sam Brown
Chrissie Hynde
Sheryl Crow
Tracy Chapman
Mary Fahl
Maire Brennan

Thanks to those people who have recommended Kelly Richey. I had never heard of her until a couple of weeks ago. I was curious enough to check her out on You Tube. An incredible guitarist, and she goes straight on the list.

Re: Ladies in rock

Have to agree with Susan Tedeschi-anyone who can cut it with Derek Trucks is good enough for me. Also Kelly Richie-never heard of her before today-WOW! SRV re-incarnate!! I'll throw another name into the ring-- Orianthi. Young, gorgeous, and shreds!!
Thoughts?

Re: Ladies in rock

I've got good seat tix for Heart at the Puyallup Fair in September. Looking forward to it, have seen them several times through the years.

Another name I'd add to the list, although not really a rock artist is Joni Mitchell. She gets a pass into the rock club for writing Woodstock made popular by CSN&Y. But anyway I love her stuff.

Melanie
Donna Gonchaux
Dusty Springfield
Laura Nyro
Cathy Ponton King
