Hehe, thanks guys. All I'm saying is, there was alot of fast lick-wankin and less good choice of notes. But maybe that worked for that song.

For an amp cabinet, I don't really care as long as it's the cheapest option.
The price for the Ceriatone 2555 with shipping is $1200 to Sweden, or the 2550 for $1035 with shipping.
So after taxes the 2550 would land at $1430 and the 2555 at $1640.
The VM would cost about the same, but sometimes there are used ones for 3/5 the price. Naturally this plan rests on the fact that I can convince my mother to buy me a 4x12 hmm . If not, I won't have the $ for either of those choices. But either way I'm getting the 4x12 first.

Is there some tax difference with imported products to Sweden?  Like a tariff tax that doesn't apply to the United States?  What Nik quoted me is what I paid.  There is no tax added in Malaysia!  I would check that over before making your decision because I firmly believe you get MUCH more amplifier for your money from Ceriatone than anything being mass produced today.

Yes. When buying stuff from outside of Europe that's worth more than about $60 there is a VAT tax that's 25% and customs want like 3-4%, this is somehow calculated based on the price of the amp as well as the shipping cost.

So the lower the value you put on the package, the less tax you have to pay. For example if the stated price on the package was $200 instead of $860 the price would be around $200 lower. However the insurance would only cover the $300 that was the stated price so that's not so smart because if something happens...

Thanks for clarifying that.  If it makes you feel any better, Nik's packaging is borderline OVERKILL.  The DHL guy handed me this big heavy box and I anxiously ran inside to open it.  It was like Christmas morning!  To my dismay, however, the damn thing took like 15 minutes to unpackage!  Everything was like triple layered with bubble wrap, taped to the 10th degree, and filled with shipping popcorn.  I think if someone shot an RPG at the DHL van on the way to my house the only thing that would have survived the carnage would have been my Ceriatone!  Well man that does suck that its not the same as over here in the States, I was thrilled when I found out that there was no tax on top of my quoted price.  Good luck with whatever you get!  You sure have the chops to make anything work...

There's used Ceriatones on Ebay all the time. With a little patience, you can save some bucks and buy a used one. But even $200 bucks difference, I'd still go with the Ceriatone. It's handwired (PTP), and brand new with a warranty.

I'd really like to hear Stratovari's input, since he owns both a Marshall Jub and a Ceriatone Jub. It sounded like he liked the Ceriatone better from one of his posts.

What do you think he should do Alex?

Re: Which pickups did joe have in new day yesterday live?

Alright, Alex, I'll lay it down for you so once you see this you won't have to read through the thread.

I'm debating between the Ceriatone 2550 and the Ceriatone 2555. I know Joe has said "Stay away from the 50 watters, they dont have the same midrange as the hundred watters" but do you feel this is evident with the Ceriatone?

If you could sum up the differences between the Ceriatone and your 2555 it would be much appreciated.

Re: Which pickups did joe have in new day yesterday live?

The difference between the ceriatone 2550 to 2555 is nothing but the bottom end.
But if you compare the 2550 to the Marshall SJ 2555 the difference is bigger.
The Jub has more bottom end (it has 100 watt) but it sounds really good with the main output volume is on 10.
But this is way too loud for the most locations I play.

The Ceriatone is a lot more generous here. It sounds pretty good even at 6 where I run it most of the time.
Also the sound of the distortion is more balanced and more defined. I personally couldn't notice a big
difference in the mids. The ceriatone seem to sound warmer, more organic and alive to my ears.
It responses perfect to any of my guitars. The Jub sounds a bit harder and colder, if this makes sense to you.
The Jub is a fantastic amp but the Ceriatone is more practicable for me.
It is likely that Joe would say the ceriatone 2550 is a good sounding amp
but needs more balls and volume. wink
What I wanna say is that the way you want to use it is very important too.

But this is only the way I see and hear it.
Probably this is also a matter of taste. Some other people might think different about it.
You really have to play and feel the amp. The main character of the both amps is equal.

COOL ALEX
I WONDER HOW MUCH THE PTP WIRING MAKES
A DIFFERENCE TO THE CERIATONE AS THE JUBE
HAS A PCB . THIS IMO MAKES THE CERIATONE
                 SUCH A GOOD BARGAIN.

"Everybody's entitled to my opinion. wink

Re: Which pickups did joe have in new day yesterday live?

Cool. I'm sure the 50w will be enough. I'm not going to be playing a full blown arena any time soon. I think for the places I will be playing 50 should be sufficient.

Though bottom end has huge importance to me. Is it that the marshall have more bottom end than the ceriatone or more the 100w over the 50w? Is there much loss of bottom end to the 50w?

50 watts is arena loud lol... The difference between 100 watts and 50 watts volume wise is so small.

Re: Which pickups did joe have in new day yesterday live?

I know I was thinking more clean headroom and that stuff...

Re: Which pickups did joe have in new day yesterday live?

Yes as Ben said. The difference in Volume isn't that much.
But you notice a bigger bottom end. Somewhat wider.
And yes, its because the 2550 has only 50 watt. It isn't such dramatic differnce but noticable.
Otherwise, the 2550 has many benefits that makes it more practicable.
I dare to claim that the 100 watt ceriatone may sound even better than the Jub.
Famous last words... lol

By the time you need that much clean headroom, you'll be a seasoned pro and will probably have gone through 10 amps. Or you'll have the money from those big gigs to buy 4 100 watters like Joe.
