Topic: Paradiso Oct.12

Hi Everybody.

Just wanted to let you know that last night was fantastic.Nice to see the guys play in our lovely little country again.
The sound and building were great and everybody loved it.
No change in the setlist (for those who wanted to know).
It was completely sold out but the crowd was great.
Nice meeting some of the forum members (now I know how some of you look like wink ).
Great experience, can't wait until march to see the guys come back and tour in Holland.

(for the dutch-fans check: www.ticketmaster.nl for the exact dates and places)

p.s. took some pictures last night, will put it on my website in a couple of minutes.

Re: Paradiso Oct.12

It was a wonderful night. We stood right in front of the stage smile I met some of the forum members as well.
Too bad Carmine didnt let us go backstage with the others. But after waiting outside for a long time we still met Joe and he signed the pickguard of my guitar.  I also got Scott McKeon's setlist, which he signed later on when I bought his album along with a You&Me shirt (plenty of memorabilia for one night wink ).

The setlist included: Bridge to better days, Walk in my shadows, So many roads, Mountain time, Another kind of love, High water everywhere, If heartaches were nickels, Woke up dreaming, Django, Just got paid, Ball Peen Hammer, Asking around for you (with Scott McKeon), Miss you hate you.

Here's some pictures I took: http://ramonzin.hyves.nl/album/18146093 … 2_10/kD8R/

And I also filmed Django: http://youtube.com/watch?v=ewdK0TwCTwA

Re: Paradiso Oct.12

I was there too. It was the first time for me to ever see Joe live (or to be at Paradiso at all, for that matters...).
I truely had a great evening! big_smile
Everything was really great. The only thing that was disappointing for me was that "If heartaches were nickles" was played using an accoustic guitar instead of an electric one and that it was a short version. Since this is one of my all-time favourites, I had really wished for the full seven and a half minute version of this song.
Apart from that, everything was really great and I will absolutely visit one of his future concerts here in Holland! big_smile

Off-topic: Nice to finally find a forum where I can register my frontname as my username. Normally the name "Peter" is already taken smile

Re: Paradiso Oct.12

Hi everyone!  Still here in Amsterdam and still talking about the WOW concert that Joe and the boys gave us last night at Paradiso.  It was so cool meeting people from the forum: Andre, Marianne, Annelies, Geko, Paul, Jan, Eva, Amsterhammer (who have i left off?) and we all had a great night marching along to Walk in My Shadow and crying to Sloe Gin wink.  It was soooo worth travelling to this fantastic city.  Amsterdam is great, we've just spend the evening in Leidseplein (sp?) and had a great evening listening to some blues in a small smokey bar.  Hope to meet up with you all again sooooooon.

PS  And England beat France!!!!

Re: Paradiso Oct.12

Hi all,

Even with the flue (sorry if any now feels sick) I had a great night at Paradiso last Friday. Brought 3 friends, all of them agreed that this was the way music should be played. One of my friends ranked it on 3 of his best ever list (following Satrianin and Bowie).

I was happy to see that yesterday the tickets went on sale for Joe in Eindhoven (my home town!). 7 tickets are on their way!!!

Scott was nice to see, a lot of potential and a good CD for the trip back home ;-)

See you on March 10th!

Joost

Re: Paradiso Oct.12

Sounds like a stellar performance by Joe and company.  Glad it was sold out and it seems that the Street team did a good job in spreading the word!!!

Music is good for the Soul...

Re: Paradiso Oct.12

Like Ramon, I was standing next to him just one meter from Joe,  I have pictures too and want to send them to this site, but I don't know how to do it. Can someone help me out please?
I have 30 pictures and want to send them in one time, how and to what address on the joe site.
Sorry , maybe you all laugh now but I don't know to much about computers!.

Hey Andre,
Do you have access to Flicker?  I am not a computer person either (no laughing here), but I have been able to utilize it.  Maybe one of our photo friends can help you,  anxiously awaiting to see your pictures!!                   Patty

Re: Paradiso Oct.12

Paradiso is a special place to visit for a concert but a Joe show there is incredable.
Wow what a great night that was.
Joe playing his heart out and doiing some different twists in the songs.
I loved it!!!!!!!!!!! ThankYou!!!!!
Bogie, Carmine and Rick a great band with even greater talent, fun and energy. The energy was felt by everybody and throwing a guitar in the audience made them really wild. Joe signed the guitar later with 'a good catch'.
So nice to meet up with all the Joe fans from all over Europe before the show.Hope you all had or have safe travelings.
Thanks to Joe ,Bogie,Carmine and Rick for spending some time with us after the gig . Photo's on Marianne's hyves website.
Joe your a master on the guitar and so glad so many people could see that in the Paradiso.
Enjoy Moscow tonight guys!!!!!!!!!!

Ramonster,

Absolutely wonderful pictures of Joe! And what can can I say about Django? It took my breath away! Absolutely Fabulous!! Thank you for sharing these with us.

Hey anyone,

Am I wrong or has Joe picked himself up a Blue Gigliotti Strat? It surely is an absolutely beautiful guitar!!

Roy

Roy,

Yup, Joe is playing Django on his Blue Gigliotti GS in the YouTube clip Ramonster filmed at the Amsterdam show Oct 12.  As far as I know, Joe has had the Blue Gigliotti GS at least since before Dec. 2005 because my husband and I saw him play it at Jazz Alley in Seattle, WA at that time.

As a matter of fact, we so loved the look and tone of the blue Gigliotti GS after seeing Joe play it, that I bought one for my husband!!!  My hubby is on the Gigliotti website three times (we now have three Gigliottis:  2 GTs, 1 GS).  Check it out:  http://www.gigliottiguitars.com/html/contact.htm ("Patrick Gigliotti & Mel") and twice on http://www.gigliottiguitars.com/html/photos.htm ("Mel [aka Little Eddie]" and "Patrick Gigliotti & Mel"), the same page as JOE!!!!  You CANNOT beat the tone of the Gigliotti guitars and the way Joe makes them sound!  We absolutely love ours!

Re: Paradiso Oct.12

And I was wondering why none of the people I'd met had posted in the 'old' Paradiso thread.

*smacks head*

A pleasure to meet so many of you, especially Andre and LynB. I'm afraid I no longer have the stamina to tough it out for three hours at the front of the stage like most of you (respect!), so I went and found my four friends who came because I had turned them on to Joe's music this summer and watched from the balcony.

An awesome show with an awesome atmosphere. There is no denying that the Paradiso is a very special venue and I'm hoping that the missing Friday during Joe's week here next March will turn out to be the Paradiso again.

RIP Iron Man

Rock On and keep the Faith

Re: Paradiso Oct.12

Hallo you all,

After a long Joe weekend I'll tell how it was for me.

Joe and band were: BRILLIANT, AWESOME, FANTASTIC,PHENOMENAL,TERRIFIC!!!

But not only Joe was great, all Friday was great.

I left home Friday 1300 and wett to Amsterdam by train, where I arrived at 16.00
A quick check in at the hotel and then by tramway to Paradiso, arriving at 17.00. Forummembers Yvonne and husband from Italy, Paul and Philippa, and Lynn B and husband  from England, Amsterhammer(real name George original from USA) were already waiting.
Gave the tickets to Yvonne and Paul and we went to the Hardrockcafe to meet Annelies, Marianne, Barbara and Eva and friend. Unfortunately it was full so we went to the Irish pub beside to have a drink.

At 18.15 we left for Paradiso to be the first in line. There I met Geko, Rudi, my best friend and his wife Anneke, their oldest son Thomas.

Geko made a keyholder with a guitar with the name Joe in it. Very nice and definately something for the Joe merchandising I think!!! I got the first one as a present. Thanks Geko!! He left the line to have a meal and I didn't see him anymore because doors opened and LYN.B from the forum was the first to get in!!We ran to the stage and had the best place , one meter from Joe.

I looked aside and there was Ramonster from th e forum with his girlfriend. Very nice guy too.

19.25 Scott mcKeon started his 25 minutes set. He played loud and good, young man and the hope of British bluesyoungsters. Has 2 good Cd"s out.
Then at 20.15 Joe, Carmine, Rick and Bogie come on stage and the rest is HISTORY!!

Brilliant set, very varying: electric, acoustic, great singing, band, solo. It was more diverse than all 10 shows I saw before.
After almost 2 hours including 2 encores it was over. Paradiso was blown away!!
Then I met marijke from the forum for a little chat but she had to leave.

I went to the toilet, actually I felt to at 20.00 but I didn't want to give up the spot. When I went to it, 2 people asked me about my -Always on the road- T shirt. One guy wanted to give 100 Euro's for it. Rudi my friend has the same in white and he had the same!! Collectorsitem I guess. I bought the new Tshirt too.

I stayed for 2 hours in paradiso and went to my hotel, no cafe, no.pub, nothing to spoil this evening.

Next day I visited Amsterdam en was homa at 1800.
And guess what:
My wife doesn't like my guitarmusic at all, but what was on the stereo ; SLOE GIN.
and my children Laura 9years and Bram 6 were singing along and know the lyrics.

What a homecoming I heard it through the open window and felt tears in my eyes. Stupid, sentimental??? maybe but Joe is getting a part of our family life. Sinde than whole weekend till now only Sloe Gin CD is playing.

Today: sending/ recieving emails to forummembers, calling people about the show and enjoying after.
Tomorrow I'll buy 4 tickets for the show on the 15th of March in The Hague. so it goes on and on and on...

I want to thank  forummembers
Marianne, Annelies, Barbara, Lyn. B and husband, Eva and friend, Geko, Ramon and girlfriend. Amsterhammer(george), Paul and Philippa, Yvonne and husband, Eric W. for this wonderful evening.

Geoff Johnson and Michael Lynch I felt sorry for you, you couldn't come. Maybe next time and if you need tickets for a Joe show in Holland just let me know in time, that counts for all forummembers of course. It is much easier that way.

Now I stop took me 2 hours and two times.time. First time almost finished, wrong button ; everything gone.

Hope to meet you all again at another show.

Andre Wittebroek.

Re: Paradiso Oct.12

Hey guys,

Just came back from Amsterdam and can move neither my feet nor my legs. Actually my whole body is aching with the pain of 4 days walking through this beautiful city and jumping around at the concert.
As the movement from my computer to my bed will need some preparation - time I´ll make it short for today :

If that Friday wasn´t  the perfect Friday then I don´t now what a perfect Friday should be like.
I love you all! ;-)

Good night!

P.S.:
