Tivo is a brand of Digital Video Recorder for all those people that can't set a VCR. The best thing since sliced bread for my wife. She never could set a VCR and didn't trust me after I muffed the recording of the Dynasty finale.

Re: Justin Timberlake

Hey Cathy,
I hope I didn't offend you in anyway.  I am huge Motown lover, to this day, I still crank up the Supremes and the Temptations.  I also listen to classical and opera, so except for rapping and hip-hop and real strong twangy, sing songy country, I like lots of music. roll  Do you like the Red Hot Chili Peppers?

Relax everyone, I'm not pimping the boy, I'm just saying I caught this show and was impressed. "Sexy Back" and those songs don't do anything for me, but Madison Square Garden was packed with people who sang along. And, they weren't teens. Dino is right. He controlled the show. Everything was live, strings included. If it cost 1 million it looked like it. R&B is a family. While the Beatles were on the charts they shared space with groups such as the Supremes, the Temptations, etc. Acts that were "song and dance" Motown style. And, the boy is at his best to me at the piano. I do like the What goes around...song. But no, I'm not going out and buying any. I will keep this show on tivo for awhile and revisit a few sections.......We can't bully people into liking what we like. I'm fried on "blues snobs" and a sense of judgement on the taste of others. Re: Justin Timberlake

Angela, no problem, I promise! I have to laugh because I remember 8 track to cassette, home equalizers, the advent of HBO ( we vegged for 1 whole day, what a marvel, a movie at home without ads!!), (GES..one of the advantages to TiVo is you can pause the tv when you need to use the loo? which is nice!!)   Then,... Tah Dah..MTV..WOW...That also became an addiction for the whole family..(lead to 3 Duran Duran shows with my daughter!)..but I saw and heard so much that I liked including the RHCP ...The Clash, Def Leopard, Bon Jovi, Peter Gabriel on and on...I didn't "fall in love", I still played my SRV, Little Feat and others, but I learned how much was out there. It also made possibilities infinite for the consumer. I can't imagine how hard it is to compete in this global market!

Re: Justin Timberlake

Hi Cathy,

You watch whatever you want g-friend, it's a free country and the beauty of that is free speech. I listen to many genres of music. Personally I can't hang with Justin's high range vocal approach, but he's started to grow on me as an actor. Not to mention the D**k in a box video from SNL is probably in the top ten funniest things I've ever seen on that show. Once you get to the level he has you can surround yourself with the best musician's money can buy. I have a friend here in Benicia named Stef Burns who's an incredible guitar player and has made a career as a hired gun. He's played for Pablo Cruise, Y & T, Sheila E., Berlin, Michael Bolton, Alice Cooper, and now splits his time playing lead for Huey Lewis & the News and Vasco Rossi an Italian pop Idol who fills soccer stadiums all over central Europe. He's told me the worst of it all was playing for Sheila E. and touring world wide opening for Prince and having to wear Prince like outfits and a Flock of Seagulls wedgy hairdo. Some times a guys gotta do whatever to pay the bills. Mike Scott probably falls into that same category, not bad work if you can get it and the next morning you can go out and grab breakfast in peace and quiet.

...it is true that variety is the spice of life.......makes the world go round.....cuz ya' know what?.........I personally love Prince's clothes.....Mr. Funkadelic.........when I saw him I couldn't wait for another change.....way cool stuff he was wearing.....all the way from a solid red suit with red shoes with lit-up heels down to a simple muscle shirt and the Prince has got some bi-ceps (who would have guessed under those silky to flowing shirts)......he obviously hits the gym.......so "can't judge a book by it's cover" fits appropriately into this thread.....thank goodness we all don't like the exact same things in life.....there woudn't be enough to go around.......I love to go to concerts to kick back and just let go..."pack up all my cares and woe, here I go..."    Have fun, be happy   smile  Patty

Jeff,
The funniest clip ever...good thing to think about when you're about to get a needle in your toe or a shot of novacaine at the dentist.  I never saw that before Jane posted that clip.  Thank God for Bonamassa fans, they really keep me entertained!!

Cathy-the hubby held onto a couple of 8 tracks for nostalgic reasons...I'm glad to have a Granny/Nanny on board.  I had to have one of the coolest Nannies in the world...she lived until her 90's and had a string of younger boyfriends after my grandfather died...she was one of the most unique individuals ever!

Amazing voice, didnt know she's from Pittsburgh, dont laugh at me, but I tried to get tix when she came here with J.T. It was sold out, but I love great talent, dont care what kind of music. Everything gets listened to but gangsta rap in my house. My 28 year old daughter has some incredible music on the media player, I just click it on when I'm pounding nails.

That's the spirit!!! Prejudice...pre-judgement...something Joe faces regularly..Open minds and ears! There are treats to be found. That's why I love this topic. I've learned so much. I would hate for people not to post out of fear of ridicule. It's all so subjective.... (I've got to learn to proof read!).........

Amen Cathy,
This is such a great section of Joe's forum. Other artists that we as fans of Joe can turn on to fellow members. I have learned about so many other bands that I otherwise would have never knew about.  Take "Back door slam" , HOLY ****  They sound incredible and can't wait to get their cd.   Thanks for the heads up Paul.

Take care everyone. And if I don't meet you no more in this world

I've said it before and I'll say it again, even though I stole it from En Vogue, free your mind and the rest will follow.

My husband is a closet Christina fan, but doesn't listen to her music or own any of her CD's.  When Tower Records went out of business, he bought this Rolling Stone poster for $1.00 of Christina holding his blue PRS guitar and put it over his guitar work bench! roll. http://www.allposters.com/gallery.asp?s … 11189-6861

I have played many instuments on occaisson, but just because I could make some music or memorize notes doesn't make me want to put those instrument on MY resume!

Also, notice singing wasn't on the list. oh- and turntables smile
