D.......A.......M.......N!

this little club was friggin awesome to see JB in...

I felt like it was a personal guitar clinic on what I would never be able to do!!! LOL!

Anyway...here's the chain of events from my side...

we got there about 3hrs early. They had just finished setting up and JB and crew came in for the soundcheck...that was awesome

Mike Martin went on about 8:40pm. He is a Via/Satriani style player....very good at his craft.

Joe went on around 10ish...I got a great spot at the stage. Joe was in my face alot...there was one tim when he was fingerpicking I could snatched the pick from the crease of his fingers...I didn't...but I coulda smile

The new band is as tight as it gets. Joe had a cold and remarked about how much NyQuil he had taken before the show...we couldn't tell though...the vocals were awesome as well.

After the show we hung around awhile...Joe emerged from the bus and was VERY gracious toward everyone...

Enough rambling from me...here's a few pix I hosted on my band's website...it'll stay for a while...check em out and tell me what you think...I didn't have to use the zoom for anything!...I even had to lean back for a few shots they were so close....enjoy

Make sure you put a link to those pics in the photo section, AK. That's where everyone checks. Glad you had fun! Sorry to hear Joe's sick again. Crazy weather will do that.

Re: Decatur/Atlanta show 06/17

This was the first show that we have seen Joe with the new line up and they haven't missed a beat.  We have seen Joe numerous times and this probably rates as one of the best if not the best.  Even though Joe was not feeling good at all, he put everything he had into the show, as he always does.  Sound was very good, but poor venilation in the main room made things rather warm.

They played for almost TWO HOURS!  Played three new songs off of "You and Me".  Bridge to Better Days,  So Many Roads and Asking Around for You as the encore.  There was great interaction between Joe and Mark, and Joe really got the crowd going too.  There was 300+ in attendance and many first timers!

I had some Street Team business cards that I passed out and had some as you walked in and at the merchandise table.  This directed ones to Joe's website.  There should be some official ones coming out soon according to Phil.  But wanted to make sure that people knew how to find Joe on the web.

It was great to see Joe, Bogie and Mark having a great time.  Very evident in the way they played.  Nice seeing Bogie again and talking about NC.  We both agreed that Joe needs to come to Charlotte!!!  Dennis does an amazing job in keeping Joe going and making sure everything goes smoothly.

Nice to meet fellow Bonamites, some from Alabama, Tennessee, SC!

Wow!  I had heard he was the man live. I can tell you that is the truth. I have several of his CD's and the are great, but to see him play, with such power and feeling, oh yea don't let me forget, the tone he has live I can not begin to put into words. I told one of my guitar buds, I don't think I've ever seen anybody better.
This was my first of many JB shows.  Keep on playing Joe you are the man!!!

No problem David. How did they go over. I posted an update on the Street Team topics. I have procrastinated a bit but I hope to have it done this week.

I thought they went over very well.  Had 250 made up from the website that Stu had found.  Put some on the tables and had some at the door where the ticket person was.  Also gave some to J.P. at the merchandise table and check with him after the show and many were taken.  Only problem didn't save one for myself!

They basically said discover Joe Bonamassa, gave the website, mention free video, audio clips etc.  Courtesy of the Street Team.

I got one...very cool...I even went to the website and had some made for my band.

Re: Decatur/Atlanta show 06/17

Well, I didn't get a card, but made my way here anyway. We came from Knoxville for the show and were not disappointed. This was my first JB concert but will NOT BE THE LAST.  What can I say that you already do not know? Probably nothing, but I have not been this impressed with an artist in a good while. I LOVE that the blues is making a comeback. I had Blues Deluxe, So It's Like That, Had To Cry Today and picked up You & Me a day or so before the show. Joe has to be the best guitar player I have ever seen in person. Mike Martin who went on first was very good and fast, and as someone else mentioned, he reminded me of Vai as well. He ought to get a better band and throw some vocals in, but was a nice opener. Joe took the stage and just BLEW ME AWAY! I am a new fan for sure. I'm already looking to see where I can go next to hear him again. I so wanted to hear "Had to Cry Today" but sadly he didn't perform that one. The River and Burning Hell just ROCKED!

I also managed to get a nearly front row spot, till some of the more aggresssive fans pushed their way in front. I also had to go outside a couple of times because I thought I was gonna pass out from the heat. God, it was hot in there, but well worth it. I talked to a couple of long time followers, I didn't get your names, from Charlotte, and they told me a little about Joe and his history. Thanks to you two guys for sharing, and maybe see you again in the future.

I was wondering what happened to his other band. Is the bass player & the drummer new? I picked up the Live at The Rockpalast DVD and they look to be different. What's the deal?

I got a few good pictures I'll share if I can figure out how to post them.

The drummer got a haircut.

Blues ain't nothin' but a good woman gone bad.

Re: Decatur/Atlanta show 06/17

Hey Roadking, nice meeting you at the show.  Glad you came down from Tenn. to see Joe.  It is always worth traveling to see him play.  It was only 4 hours for us from Charlotte.

Welcome to the forum, you will meet some of the greatest fans there is.
You took some great shots, what kind of camera did you use?

Re: Decatur/Atlanta show 06/17

Hey David,
Nice to meet you too. Thanks for sharing with a newbie. The camera is just a little Sony Cybershot. I have a bigger better one with an external flash but didn't bring it to the show. Wasn't sure of the photo policy and the little one fit in the pocket nicely. I got more but he's so fast that most of them are blurry.

I'm thinking of Rams Head in Annapolis on October 31. Used to live around there so very familiar. looks like no other shows in the south. Does Joe not like the south? Ha!

Re: Decatur/Atlanta show 06/17

Hey Road King,

Nice pics, you must have been real close. Must have been that car ride to the show huh? Yea it's me, look forward to seeing you at the next JB show. PS Have you rested up yet?

Re: Decatur/Atlanta show 06/17

Hey Boat!
Working on finding tickets to the Rams Head in October. Doesn't show up on the RH site yet. Not sure how to go about getting tickets. Guess I'll have to call them when they open up. I think I've finally recovered from our 3 day - 3 concert tour. Just need another show to look forward to now. Kinda a let down, now that the weekends over, you know what I mean?

I did see someone at the Decatur show with a video camera running. Is it someone on this forum? Is there a place to trade or get a copy of the live show? Anyone know?

Also Jane, you mention 8 shows in DC? Is the tour dates listed on the site here not complete?

Thanks again,
Roadking

Forgot to post this pic of Joe's guitars. I was amazed!

Re: Decatur/Atlanta show 06/17

Hey Jane.  Blues Alley tickets won't go on sale until late August or early September.  I just called them this past Friday to see about purchasing tickets.  I am going to try to make it to the Saturday night shows.  Hope to see you there.  Barbara
