Topic: Around The bend

Hi all!

Does anyone know the chord progression on Around the Bend?

I have problems when he sings: "

I was born in the country, straight into town.
I go anywhere to see what goin' down.
I see cowards and heros, fast as the wind.
I go down any road there is, to see what's around the bend.

You let me rest my weary head, weary head.
Let's find out what this life is,
Before we're dead, Oh, before we're dead
"

Thanks A Lot!!!

Bye from Italy

Re: Around The bend

well, i do know the chords but have no idea how to explain them. (not exactly a theory nut...)

"born in the country"  a string 3rd fret, d string 2nd fret, g string open, b string 3rd fret, e string 3rd fret

"i'll go anywhere to see what's going down" d string 2nd fret, g string open, b string 3rd fret, e string 3rd fret.

"i'll go down any road there is" a string 1st fret, g string open, b string 3rd fret, e string 3rd fret.

I know I have it right when I play it, but i'm trying to picrure it at work here to describe it for you. It should give you a place to start.

Good luck!

Re: Around The bend

Ill name the chord based on what John said.  I said tab for it in Guitar Edge and it had  capo, but I doubt he uses a capo.  Also this is assuming its in standard, which Joe tends to tune down

                                 C                     E                       G                   D                      G
"born in the country"  a string 3rd fret, d string 2nd fret, g string open, b string 3rd fret, e string 3rd fret
                                                                  E                        G              D                       G
"i'll go anywhere to see what's going down" d string 2nd fret, g string open, b string 3rd fret, e string 3rd fret.
                                                Bb                  G                   D                        G
"i'll go down any road there is" a string 1st fret, g string open, b string 3rd fret, e string 3rd fret.

Ill listen to the song later and see if this is right

Hey Ballgame,
Wasn't that Guitar Edge a transcription for "Never Make your Move too Soon"?  Regardless, I don't play that one with a capo either.

It could have been.  I almost bought it but knew (I could be wrong) that JB doesnt use a capo.  Also the fact I dont own a capo smile
JB tunes down one full step on most songs.  I have a Mexi Strat that will stay in tune once you get it in tune.  Takes for ever to fine tune it until its on the spot.

as a side note are those chords right? Also which version are you trying?

EDIT: Fretwork you're right about the song in Guitar Edge

I think the only song he tunes down a full step on is Pain and Sorrow... he tuned down a half step on most of ANDY and any time theres a strat in ANDY lvie (which is basically the whole thing) however, the Esquire is in standard tuning (Miss You Hate You, Walk in My Shadows, and Colour and Shape) as is the Les Paul (Cradle rock and Steppin' Out/Rice Pudding).... the only other cd that was tuned down in a few of the songs was SILT (My Mistake (down 1/2 step, drop D, P&S, Takin' the Hit (Drop D) etc.)

Nowadays, Joe hardly tunes down- almost everything is in standard tuning with the Pauls...

Hope this helps

P.S. the transcription for Never Make Your Move too Soon is mostly correct- just without the capo smile

Scott I like the positive attitude of "I think the only song he tunes down a full step on is Pain and Sorrow" , leaving out "when he USED to play that" smile

well I am a pretty positive person by nature smile  I know how much you love that song Jane... thats always confused me about Woke Up Dreaming- why does Joe have his acoustic tuned down a half step and then capo it on the 1st fret?!  Its so odd to me...

Re: Around The bend

I think the song is in drop G tuning (DGDGBE).

It's definitely tuned down from there though.

Thanks for posting the lyrics!
