Topic: RCFP Rides Again!

A 4 day residency at the Baked Potato Dec. 4-7.
The jungle drums got rolling and the SoCal faithful got the heads up going.
Thanks to LindyLu, I got in early, and the wife and I are enjoying Friday and Saturday nights, both early and late shows.
All 8 shows sold out in hours!
Renato Neto on keys this time.
I’ll see the regulars on the curb for the street party.
Word is that no vids allowed at all. It may be streamed by the club.

No Audio and video because the club will stream it sounds strange.
Streaming is good for the moment but all tapers will put it online days later when all concerts are over.
That makes maybe no sense.
New Blu Ray or CD in the making? That would be awesome

Hi Rick
More and more clubs and theaters are not allowing any filming or photos because of the fact they are starting their own streaming. Another revenue stream. Not surprised fan vid days are numbered

PPV? A possibility. I’d pay to see it Ron, as would many. They’ll have to have fixed mount cameras. They’ll have to add a light in back so you can see Mike, lol.  A mixer in the trailer out back?
I can’t blame him, the price was up again to stratosphere rates for the Spud, or anywhere for that matter, eclipsing Joe’s big band rates. All the market will bear? This market would pay whatever. 126.50 for the 9:30 show and 109.50 for the late one. It all sold out in hours. The server crashed when it first went up. Hottest ticket inHollywood for sure! I paid it gladly, remembering 12.50 or so for both on the first night they played there so long ago. I bet I could scalp my 2X4 shows F/S for twice what I paid easy. Heh, heh. Not a chance! I asked the wife when I was getting them if it broke the bank. “Oh hell no, get them!” Some of our best musical experiences ever happened in that place when those guys let it rip purely for the joy of making music.
I’m remembering when Beth Hart sat in, she was right next to us. I didn’t know who she was, then she stepped up from the table, took the mic, and brought the house to stunned silence and tears as she sang Blind Girl just days after Etta had passed, and Joe made the Nocaster cry too. I was rolling vid and thinking I was capturing one of those unique moments when a band is totally in the zone and feeling it way down deep. How lucky! I sure as hell knew who she was then!
Rubbing elbows with musical royalty?
Priceless!

Re: RCFP Rides Again!

hmmmmm.
Well the RCFP 2019 ride is over now
I hope everyone who attended had much fun.
I was wondering why there are no pics or vids of these shows.
OK they stated before, but what was the reason to not allow this time?
was it streamed by the Potato or are there other plans like Live >Album etc.?

Hope 2020 I can go there too

Re: RCFP Rides Again!

Night 2 (Takes New York show -Best 10 minutes, +Rock Candy both sets) and night 4 both sets best ever.

Annual event finally to be realized. Wishing set up for late January early February for better chance of warm and sunny weather....just a wish, December is ok. No recording worked out well in my opinion, better connection of artists to audience, again, in my opinion.  Solos properly acknowledged with meaningful applause and cheers, in my opinion.

Re: RCFP Rides Again!

What Rocket said.
Helen and I attended both shows Friday and Saturday.
The setlists were from the Iridium release with a few adds from the repertoire they have developed.
The BonaSpud crew was in attendance as usual with great hanging and socializing in the queue. It´s hard to believe it´s been 9 years plus since that first time Joe sat in and played with the guys.

The last night, the band was running on fumes. Tal showed me his hand with bandaged fingers at the break, and Joe was getting hand cramps in the late set, shaking them off after each deep bend. Nonetheless, they were on fire and gave their all with killer solo breaks being passed around. A highlight for me was Dope on a Rope in the last set.
Many of us think this is Joe at his very best when he and his pals are playing that Funky Jazz for the pure love of making music.

Worth the trip, and then  some Murfdog. This is music to die for, like none other. Hanging with the band is pretty special too.
If you feel the circumstances allow, give me a heads up and I´ll get you tix if I can. We camp on the site for the Spud once Joe´s Fall tour ends. It sells out in hours once Justin puts sales up. All tickets for every show, 2 per night, were gone in half a day or so. Hottest ticket in LA to the in crowd. The plan, as Joe said, is one multi day session annually at the  Baked Potato.

No vids and no photos when the band is playing is the policy, and there was no stream. Those days are over it seems. Perhaps it affected the interaction or whatever. It sure made for a better experience as Rocket said and I agree. I didn’t even bring my camera this time.

Yeah, with a little notice, I could make it to a west coast gig....I live close to the California border, so that's only a 15 hour ride, if I decide to drive...nothing to see that show ! I'd love to see a new video soon. Just amazing musicians.
