Topic: My Sloe Gin Day .....

Woke up this morning (COULD luckily find my shoes wink ), ate a very nervous breakfast and drove to Nuernberg right away....
Went straight to the record store and there it was - shining nice and blue: SLOE GIN!!!

I had the time to tell the two other people standing in the Blues section to buy this album (or stay in the darkness forever wink ) but then rushed home as fast as I could, put it in the CD-Player and turned up the Volume ....
My God, these Songs are so beautiful! I don´t have to tell you as most of you have already listened to the i-tunes version - it just blows you away!
THANK YOU JOE for touching my soul once again ! I should say : for touching OUR souls again .....!

I tortured my boyfriend the whole day long with endless Sloe Gin-Sessions - and as I baked his favorite chocolate cake yesterday, I forced him to to say "Joe Bonamassa is the best Blues-Guitar player in the world" before I gave him a piece of it  - now he likes Joe even more wink

A big hug to all of you lovely Bonamatics out there,    Eva

P.S.: I´ve got the Digipack version and as it was already said it´s the package (a very nice package by the way). So if someone likes to have one from Germany just post it and I´ll send you one!

Re: My Sloe Gin Day .....

It's so unfair, I want to hear the album!
We don't even have a record store in my town.

That is so funny Eva in what you forced him to say before he could have a cookie!!!

Can you explain the Digipack a little more, is it just the packaging the difference?

Music is good for the Soul...

Re: My Sloe Gin Day .....

Eva, glad you got it didn't recieved mine yet so i downloaded from itunes.
Happy that i did that it's a brilliant versatile cd with influences from different types of music and interpret to my taste by Joe.
It's in the player non stop.

Yeah Joe you did it again even better and as you said Sloe Gin is a classic and brilliantly recorded and Kevin Shirley pushed you the right way to get all out. Hope you get your 2 copy's my friend wish i could see the salesmen's face.
It sure is Sloe Gin Day for me.....

Hey David,

"Digipack" seems to be a special kind of packaging - you can see what it looks like on wikipedia : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digipack ... the Sloe Gin Digipack is no usual plastic CD case but made of paperboard and you can unfold it 2 times ... I can scan it and post the picture if you like. I think it´s a nice way of packaging, feels like some old LP...  wink
But the tracks are similar to the normal version (as far as I can see).

Greetz, Eva

Hi Eva,

Very cute story about your Sloe Gin Day.  So, your honey has a sweet tooth!  I'm not sure if this is a universal expression or not...something like, the way to a man's heart is through his stomach!  It sounds like you've captured his heart and he knows exactly Where He Belongs!!

By the way Eva...You've got it bad!!

Cheers to la dolce vita! wink

Hi Eva, I'm listening to the free preview on Amazon as I'm posting. Wow Seagull just came on and gave me a shiver up my spine. This has gotta put Joe over the top. I'll see him in a month from this Mon. in San Francisco, my city by the bay. Just wondering if you've ever heard of Volker Strifler from Heidelberg?

Re: My Sloe Gin Day .....

Eva,
If saying "Joe Bonamassa is the best blues guitar player in the world" got me a piece of chocolate cake every time, I'd probably be 100 lbs heavier!
Your boyfriend sounds lucky to me. A steady diet of JB AND chocolate cake???

Hey ohiodawg13,

I love Seagull, too - I can´t say it´s my favorite song on the Album, because they´re all so good ... but Seagull just stays in my mind - it´s surely one of my most favorite Joe-Songs already!
I´ve never heard of Volker Strifler, but I have often been to Heidelberg, because a friend of mine lives there (it´s about 2 hours from my hometown) ... who is Volker Strifler ?!

P.S.: Bill, my boyfriend is not the greatest fan of Joe (yet!) - but perhaps I can condition him (do you say that?!) with chocolate cake?! Perhaps play a Joe song every time he eats a piece ... maybe he´d like him after some time ! smile

Yeah Eva...condition him sums it up, sorta like Pavlov's dogs. He says "Joe Bonamassa is the best blues guitar player in the world" and then starts looking for his chocolate cake! That's funny.

Re: My Sloe Gin Day .....

Hi Eva, vas es los? did I get that right in my very limited German? Volker is a very talented blues player who is from Heidleberg, but now lives in California. He returns to Germany and parts of Europe on a regular basis. Besides his own two bands he also accompanies Robben Ford in his touring band, which is a real treat to hear those two play together. His website is volkerstrifler.com or you can go to his myspace and see a video and listen to a few tracks from his CD's. If you like what you hear e-mail me personally and I can hook you up with his 2 CD's. Volker will be in Berlin Sept. 3rd.

You might want to try something besides cake.

Wow, he sounds real good!! Listened to his songs on myspace and really liked it ... You think I can get his CDs here in Germany?! I´ll have a look in our record store (but the Blues section is not too big there...).

Re: My Sloe Gin Day .....

Geko, I got my Sloe Gin copy in "Müller" (but it´s a quite big one) ... they can also order CDs they don´t have in the store, you should have one in your town, too. Have you ordered yours at Amazon?

Roy, my chocolate cake is indeed really good (it´s a french one) wink - maybe one day my boyfriend thinks of the taste of chocolate cake when he hears the first notes of "Ball Peen Hammer" (he must know this one by now)   .... and right, we don´t have to talk about the "other thing" to sit up and beg for in this forum ........
