It's ok, not sure if I would say jaw dropping. Guy has talent...
Yeah Jim someone posted this clip back round Christmas 2006. He had an Art In Motion CD in 2005 but haven't heard if he's done anything new. Always like to hear guys doing things a different way!
Rock On & Keep the Faith,
Rocket
That reminded me a bit of Tommy Emmanual's "Mombasa".

id say it is jaw dropping skill. if you ever tried to multi task musically you probably would too. im not saying i would want to listen to a cd of it, but less than a hundred people world wide can probably do that, probably far far less. and there is soul behind it, which a lot of people like that there is none
Well said. Although I can multitask certain things very well, I can play a piano-one note at a time, and then only to tune it or a guitar or other instrument (slight exaggeration, but not much)! I think the soul & feel are huge components...You can find "one man bands", but there's a reason most are on street corners. Some can do multi-instrumentality well (Prince), others I feel not so well (Paul McCartney). Opinions only.

I was in a music store today and a guy asked me if I had heard of this guy. I remebered him being posted here but couldn't remeber anything about him. He showed me some Youtube clips and said he was going to be intown next Friday playing a small 100 seat venue.
8 million Youtube views and he is playing in a 100 seat hole in the wall. Go figure.

Wow!
Another sensational talent I've never heard of before. I can't believe how many hits he's had on youtube, there are more numbers with 1m+.
Go figure, indeed. I hope you're going Jim, and give us a report.
Andy McKee is a phenominal acoustic guitarist. Some others besides Andy and Tommy Emmanuel are:
Don Ross
Tony Furtado
Jerry Douglas
Peter Rowan & Tony Rice
Dunham Van Durham
Monte Montgomery - check out his versions of "Little Wing" and "Sarah Smiles" on Youtube
Randy Scruggs - His version of "Amazing Grace" is my favorite. Won him a Grammy.
I was turned onto Andy McKee a couple years ago, somehow... I'm thinking maybe someone had posted a YouTube link on a forum like this, or I got an email, or something... I do know I have his "Drifting" video saved in my YouTube Favorites and I watch it (and others) periodically. I really wouldn't mind catching him live someday. I just checked his tour schedule and it appears he plays all over the place, but he's not coming quite close enough to me, yet.

Thanks for the post Suhl.
What a wonderful player he is, totally mesmerising to watch. The live version of Drifting is amazing.
I note that he is playing in the UK in May
Tripsy
He is fantastic really... reminds me of Stanley Jordan a lot.. There are many guys doing great work on the hollow wood box these days.. makes glad I play a Les Paul mostly,.,

Another fine acoustic guitarist similar to Andy McKee is Antoine Dufour. I also like Kaki King from August Rush fame - very interesting guitar style and good Alt vocals.
His version of Toto's "Africa" is one of Acoustic Guitar's Legendary Moments Captured
It Is Truly Stunning

Saw Andy last night. He is everything you see in the Youtube videos. 75 Youtube gerneration types and about 25 from the 8 track generation were in attendance. Amazing how Youtube exposure doesn't equate to tickets sold. The venue might have something to do with that I feel. I did appreciate seeing such a talented guy who really is just getting his feet wet in performing.
Although he is one fine guitar player I did find myself dozing a bit. There were moments that threaghtened exciteing me but they were few and far between. It was a very somber evening. Andy's words not mine.
I feel he is a great guitar player that needs to become an entertainer if he is to ever claw his way out of the 100 seaters. Michael Hedges influence in style but not in showmanship.
I wish Andy all the best. He is quite a nice guy. Just wasn't my thing.
