Topic: Mollie Marriott

Friday 16th March - Newcastle Cluny;

What a treat on Friday night, the opportunity to catch Mollie Marriott & band in full flight. Let’s get the elephant out the room first; Mollie does not sing like her dad; you could argue she sings better, certainly a more trained and clearer voice, less raucous edge. What she has inherited though is sheer stage presence & charisma in buckets.

Okay, it was a short, support set, but it was impressive, though at times, Mollie’s voice was a little smothered when the band got heavy; when the backed off though, it was bliss. Most songs came from Truth Is A Wolf, including the title track, Control; Broken; Transformer (co-written with Judy Tzuke) and a great cover of Tom Petty’s I Should’ve Known.. As with any really good band, it all just passed too quickly. Here’s to next time and a full set.

When life gives you lemons; don't make lemonade.
Give back the lemons.  Why were the lemons free?  What's wrong with the lemons?
Do Not trust the lemons...
