Topic: RIP JERRY GARCIA

August 9, 1995, already 12 years since his passing way too soon at age 53. The band tried to carry on simply known as The Dead, but it's just not the same. Feel free to share some thoughts.

Jerry would have been eligible for social security Aug. 1st, his 65th b-day.

Re: RIP JERRY GARCIA

I look like him right now!  Would it be fair to report Jerry sightings a la Elvis and say it was at a Joe Bonamassa scheduled concert to see if Joe can convert any hallucinating Deadheads? I could roll up onstage in a wheelchair and strum a mandolin and fake some Garcia style vocals (hack my way through them, coughing and wheezing)!  Hate mail will not be framed.

Re: RIP JERRY GARCIA

i still miss jerry i toured with them from 1980 to 1988 . my first dead show was in 1978 . i have seen about 400 dead shows and all this time and all that touring and i still miss the big guy . it's even tuff to listen to his music even no it brings back some of the best times i ever had and ever will have . i always think about how he left us so young and how much more great music he had left to give . ok now i will haveto crank some dead shows up eat a bag a shrooms and sit back and think off all the touring i did wit hthe band ........joe

Re: RIP JERRY GARCIA

kids in school made me dislike the Grateful Dead because the kids in class that annoyed the heck out of me did nothing but wear the t-shirts and talk about getting stoned. Being a square at the time, I didn't want to associate myself with being part of that following. Ironically, I was listening to Ted Nugent and Kiss the likes of whom were sexually "morally casual."

....Years later, I'm jamming along with "I Know You Rider" and asking the people I'm playing with "which of you guys wrote this!?"
