Topic: Ty Segall

I've be a fan of Ty Segall for some time now and his new double album, Freedom's Goblin" is a winding, smorgasbord of music styles.
His early work pays tribute to the Beatles, T-Rex, Grateful Dead but this song takes dead aim at Neil Young (2nd vid).  1st vid is a well-played psychedelic cover of a 70's disco song on Jimmy Kimmel's show.

Re: Ty Segall

I've heard a few tasty covers of Hot Chocolate (1st track) over the years, but not one as gnarly as that..... Think I can feel some CD shopping coming on.  Nice call....

Re: Ty Segall

Always loved this song.  Here's a much younger Ty playing to an interesting audience.  Gotta love the energy on this one.

Re: Ty Segall

Double album? You must have got the vinyl.

This is a weird one; when it's good, it's awesome otherwise it can be challenging and abstract; I don't think I've heard the like since The Davey Brothers' Monkey #9 album; some might even say Captain Beefheart....? Certainly see a lot of the late 60s & 70s influences in there (nice touch of T-Rex even); it's almost as if he's taken his favourite old albums and done a William S Burroughs cut-up on them.

Re: Ty Segall

Interesting tastes in music:  Hawkwind, Velvet Underground, The Byrds, Beatles...
Kid's songs have an eclectic bent.

Had forgotten how great a singer/songwriter Lou Reed was.

Sometimes I feel so happy
Sometimes I feel so sad
Sometimes I feel so happy
But mostly you just make me mad
Baby, you just make me mad
Linger on your pale blue eyes
Linger on your pale blue eyes
Thought of you as my mountaintop
Thought of you as my peak
Thought of you as everything
I've had, but couldn't keep
I've had, but couldn't keep
Linger on your pale blue eyes
Linger on your pale blue eyes
If I could make the world as pure
And strange as what I see
I'd put you in a mirror
I put in front of me
I put in front of me
Linger on your pale blue eyes
Linger on your pale blue eyes
Skip a life completely
Stuff it in a cup
She said "money is like us in time
It lies, but can't stand up"
Down for you is up
Linger on your pale blue eyes
Linger on your pale blue eyes
It was good what we did yesterday
And I'd do it once again
The fact that you are married
Only proves you're my best friend
But it's truly, truly a sin
Linger on your pale blue eyes
Linger on your pale blue eyes
