Re: Joe's Best Guitar Solo's

What a wonderful Top 10 Michael!

But I don't have a Top 10. Maybe a Top 1000. He is a Pied Piper to me. Will follow him even into the fire.

Re: Joe's Best Guitar Solo's

I really love the solo which completes 'common man'' off afterglow as a totally unique style of solo even though Joe at the time stated he didn't think his playing was up to standard on that album. I wish mine was as bad. lol big_smile

Come on the Blades (sorry Idolbone just had to borrow your line)

Re: Joe's Best Guitar Solo's

Great list!

I am very partial to "Song Of Yesterday" for sure.

Re: Joe's Best Guitar Solo's

Goes back a ways but I will always love the solos in Just Got Paid circa late 2008.  The opening at the Royal Albert Hall in 2009 will always be a total goosebumps moment.  Oh, and anything with volume swells.  Oh heck, all of them!

My short list in no particular order:
Sloe Gin (Sloe Gin)
I Know A Place (Black Rock)
Meaning of the Blues (Dust Bowl)
Prisoner (Dust Bowl)
Heavenly Soul (DTTD)
Song of Yesterday (BCC)
If Heartaches Were Nickels (Live, the video with the dancers)

Blues Deluxe (Shepard's Bush)

[Edit] I keep thinking of more "best" solos:
A New Day Yesterday (ANDY)

Re: Joe's Best Guitar Solo's

I love "Stop" solo. He used a Carol Ann amp during that session

Re: Joe's Best Guitar Solo's

I'm still stuck on this one...and also the whole 'best' or "favorite" conundrum

On the internet, "Best" simply means "Favorite." smile  At least, I just do the translation automatically in my head.  Unless very specific criteria are given, it's usually what's meant.

Stop is a good one, too...

Re: Joe's Best Guitar Solo's

There are so many........."The River"........

Re: Joe's Best Guitar Solo's

Happier Times for me, closely followed by Tea For One as my favourites. But seriously - an impossible choice as I love 'em all!!!

Re: Joe's Best Guitar Solo's

I have so many favorites, so that what I post in this thread today (solo of the day for me)

Solo I thought about and went back and listened to it again, the one I call to myself "jet taking off"

Re: Joe's Best Guitar Solo's

Kinda like asking "which grain of sand is your favorite on this beach?"

Re: Joe's Best Guitar Solo's

The ones that spring to my mind:

The Great Flood - RAH 1
Reconsider Baby - Tangiers (2004)

"Rock ON & Keep the Faith"

Re: Joe's Best Guitar Solo's

I this every solo is outstanding. And every song, his singing, everything, amazing and so hot waves and chills. Remember myself watching it for the first time and then sitting in the dark room for an hour and trying to pull myself back out from another dimension.

Re: Joe's Best Guitar Solo's

For a few years now now I have been separating out what I thought were some of the best solos I have seen and put them all in a playlist on youtube. Michael mentions a few that were some of my top favorites, but most of mine have come from the Rock Candy shows. Joe's solos with that band are beyond what he normally plays at his regular shows. That music pushes him to think outside the box and spurs his creativity. And I have found that frequently bits and pieces of the solos from RCFP later appear in his regular live shows. Really hope RCFP doesn't fall by the wayside. It really has stimulated Joe's creativity in a multitude of ways.

So love RCFP!!! You said it so right - it is absolutely outstanding. I've been so amazed and mesmerized by it. Everybody there is so good, and Joe - no words , so magical and beautiful playing!.. Sooo my kind of music - love, love, love it. Wish he would continue it!

I've been traveling up and down your channel Natasha, listening to the treasures you've got collected there... Baked Potato!.. mmmm... will love it forever! So, so good.

Wow! As always Natasha thank you for posting this. Great video as all your videos are, AND a side tip of the hat to your 'sound man' who does a great job as well smile

So now we know what happened to 'old' Joe. He saves it all for RCFP. I sure wish he would go back to that in all his playing. Fantastic stuff.
