Topic: Experience Hendrix last night!!!!

Well, saw this show in Dallas last night, and it was awesome!! Great night of several artists paying tribute to Jimi Hendrix. Buddy Guy, Zakk Wylde, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Jonny Lang, Eric Johnson, Dweezil Zappa, The Slide Brothers, Ana Papovic, and others all played. Here's a few highlights:

Buddy Guy - Lousiana Blues, Who Knows, Hey Joe, Red House

Kenny Wayne Shepherd - Gypsy Eyes, I Don't Live Today, Castles Made Of Sand, Voodoo Chile, Voodoo Child(SLight Return)

Zakk Wylde - Manic Depression, Little Wing, Purple Haze

Jonny Lang - All Along The Watchtower, Spanish Castle Magic, The Wind Cries Mary, Fire

Eric Johnson - Power Of Soul, Third Stone From The Sun, Are You Experienced

Brad Whitford & Caesar Rojas were special guests during the show. Brad played with Zakk, Jonny, and Buddy. Caesar jammed with Ana Popovic and Buddy.

It was a great night. I'll definitely go to this show again, but hopefully it will be on a weekend next time. Week nights aren't the best nights for shows.

Re: Experience Hendrix last night!!!!

I saw this show on Saturday night in Chicago. Neither loved it nor hated it and have no regrets but will not take this one in a second time. We had great seats - 12th row, dead center.

Does it really need to take Zakk Wylde 30 minutes to play 3 songs??? I'll give him this - he injected some life into it. The people were going nuts for him.

Beth Hart sang a few tunes and she was awesome, as usual. A definite high point of the 3+ hours. I also enjoyed Jonny Lang's short set. And I like KWS but just wasn't feeling it. Noah Hunt has a great voice but as a front man, he's not very exciting.

My favorite of the night was Mato Nanji. He was just chillin' playing rhythm and he sounded good. He busted out a few leads and sang something towards the end. Can't remember what song it was.

Biggest disappointment - Ana Popovic. Her guitar sounded so skreetchy it was almost painful. All I could think was that she needed some lessons on tone from Joe. In fact, a lot of them could've used a few of those lessons.

Chris Layton didn't seem at all happy to be there. Henri Brown seemed to be enjoying himself.

Dweezil Zappa was cute (cuz isn't that what's important? haha) and he played well but again, nothing too exciting.

Glad I didn't pay for these tickets.
