Topic: Recommendations for replacement Les Paul tuners...

So tonight I had that sickening moment where your pride and joy falls from your strap when the strap-lock gives way...

...fortunately they don't build them like they used to and the headstock didn't come off...but one of the tuners took the full force of the guitar hitting the ground...

...the ground won!!

So I'm looking for recommendations for a replacement set of vintage style tuners for my Les Paul....preferably that don't require any mods to the size of the hole in the headstock...

Are the Gibson parts ones any good?? What about Schaller or Kluson (the ones I'll be replacing are the OEM Kluson Deluxe ones)...

What's on the Custom Shop 59RI??

Adrian, whoa! that bites dude. I don't have much experience with good/bad tuners except to say the Grovers on my Epiphone Les Paul are pretty rock solid.

Once you have the tuners replaced .. have you seen these?

Basically what I ue already. It gave up the job for some reason!!

One of the tuners on my LP Traditional developed a crack shortly after I bought it and the replacement from Gibson (under warranty) has been absolutely fine.

I know the washers are very popular but I have seen them pull off if the strap is pointing in the wrong direction when the load is taken. I now use Schaller strap locks on my Fenders and Dunlop on my LPs.
