Topic: Palace Theatre Columbus Ohio 11/29

Anybody else here going ?

Taking my wife and my son and his girlfriend....we can't wait.

Kind of wish I would have bought something from the store that would have provide a meet & greet....but the tickets were $500 as is.

I know we will have a wonderful time, we all went to The Three Kings tour at blossom music center last year and the kids loved it.

My wife and I will be there.  Pretty excited.  Can't wait.

Re: Palace Theatre Columbus Ohio 11/29

I was looking for posts from others who were there. Joe was amazing, as always. The band was much better this year than last year. The ladies singing were wonderful - once i could hear them. Maybe it was where i was sitting (center, first row of balcony), but the mix made all of the voices tough to hear clearly and completely covered up the ladies. About halfway through the sound was better, the accents from the brass were clear and i could hear the ladies. The songs from "Blues of Desperation" are even better live! i kind of wish "Drive" was in the set, but Joe has so many wonderful songs that there will always be something left for next time. Including songs from "Live at the Greek" was great, "Angel of Mercy" will stick with me a while.

I'm already looking forward to next time...

You must have been sitting right in front of us. We were second row center balcony. I felt the sound improved as the show went on as well. Started out really overpowering and then settled in after the first couple songs. I think it might take a song or too to get it just right since any place is different empty and then full. We flew out to Columbus so that Phil could mix business with pleasure. We took a few of Phil's co-workers and clients to the show, 7 of us in all. The crowd was energetic and rowdy just like I remember Ohio from 2 years ago. Joe does have a big following in that state. It's a nice size theatre with a smaller stage so it's a bit more intimate. Would have loved to have been in front at this place because it has a low stage. I'll have to remember that for next time wink The balcony does have a nice view of the whole stage though and it sits pretty far forward so you feel pretty close to the action. It was a rockin' show and Joe was definitely working up a sweat. Quite a bit of smiles from him too throughout the night. He sure loves playing with this band. He is a blues boy through and through and you can tell how much he loves a big band with backup singers and horns.

Re: Palace Theatre Columbus Ohio 11/29

We loved the show, the most rocking crowd that I have personally seen Joe play in front of myself, but I have only seen him seven times, so I am sure they have been many more crowds like this.

I agree that the sound got better as the concert moved forward.

We all loved it andthe 22 year old girlfriend of my son is completely "hooked" now.

These were some of the very best sounding guitar solos that I have ever heard in my life!

I bought my tickets like as soon as they went on sale and we were in the 20th row.....I would love to get in the first row sometime, but that seems like a pipe dream.

How can i pull this off....it would be amazing to be up front in this theatre....any tips Nat.

Natasha, in Durham Joe worked up a sweat in no time at all.  I agree that he seems most pleased with the band this go around, with an abundance of smiles.  He appears happy as a clam, and that's good for us fans!

Whirlwind I sat front row for the first time ever.  During the presale, front row wasn't available.  Later on I spied 2 seats front row center, swallowed hard at the ticket price and pulled the trigger.  Beware, your S.O. may tell you front row or bust thereafter.

Re: Palace Theatre Columbus Ohio 11/29

Front row is really hard to come by these days especially from any ticketmaster venue where the prices get jacked way up with their Platinum seats. You have way more of a chance from a venue that sells its own tickets.

Curious, does Joe get any of the extra money over normal pricing?  I would hope so.

I dunno and hate to go off topic too much from review thread but I wanted to say - sometimes front row isn't great in some of these venues. I mean I would choose it and glad i snuck up to an empty front row seat at ast show I went to - but not the greatest view - until Joe said we could stand smile At platinum pricing....mumble!!!! but THEY SELL...

Anyway wish I could have been at the Columbus show....wondering if Chuck O. got to it.....

I agree that front row can be a horrible seat when the stage is high. I have had a number of situations like that where the seats are real close to the stage and the stage is high you can barely see a thing especially with the monitors and stage speakers in the way. Only can see Joe's body and guitar when he comes over right in front to solo. Many times the best seat is the front of the lowest balcony especially if the balcony is pretty far forward. Or the side balcony or box seats if they come close to the stage. I frequently prefer those over the floor because no matter what I always seem to have someone tall in front of me on the floor. The trick is knowing what the situation is at each theatre. But a small theatre, with a low stage, now that is a dream come true for front row. I think I need to keep some kind of list with theatre seating details, lol.

Re: Palace Theatre Columbus Ohio 11/29

The palace theatre would be a great place to be in the front row...and I really want to do this....just one time...so I can really see Joe's hands work his magic  smile

Seeing Joe live is an experience to behold, and not necessarily for the sound quality...heck as far as vocals go...they were very muffled at times...but oh that guitar work and the horns and keyboard...truely spectacular.

Thanks for the videos.

Last show we went to we had fifth row center aisle seats and those were really great!
