Topic: Blues of Desperation Appreciation!!! (Gear influences)(new/old gear)

Got the cd about a month ago. Totally awesome as always!(Thanks, Joe) When I finally saw the vids I was more than pleased to see a Firebird!!!;D

To make a long story longer; the reason I got my '76 was coz a friend begged me to drive him to Cleveland as soon as I got my licence so he could get his '66 Firebird 7. When I saw the totally cracked finish, I thought what the?;0

Then he plugged it into my hand-me-down 64 Princeton.(that was only slightly taken without my cousin's permission?);P

Then I Knew Why.;D

The amp was lost, and replaced by a couple others, but my cousin asked about it the last few times I've seen him (even though he doesn't play anymore).

He got me thinking about how sweet that tone was so I had to track one down. I truly thought that I might just give it to him.

Found one, bought it, played through it. He's NOT getting it! It sounds waaaaaay better than his did!!! Totally clean, totally noiseless. His always had a hum that I couldn't get rid of. When I went back through the store's inventory and found the matching 64 Fender Reverb tank, with the same white knobs, I knew they had to be a natural pair.

Regardless of the budget, these two had to stay together after 50 years. They are and will be till I'm too arthritic to play.;)

Just had to share my joy in music/gear. Can't think of a better place.

Always Your Fan,
76birdgirl

P.S. Anyone else here use an old tube-tank reverb? It sounds totally killer on 'Drive'!!!!!!;D
