I've been working on uploading the videos from this show. Waited till I got home to do them because the sound was a little off due to the fact that we were standing right up front and the speakers were over our heads. I've tried to layer in Phil's audio to help bring a little more fullness and bring out more of the vocals. I really loved this show because we were standing right at the rail and Joe played a lot of solos right in front of me. Nothing better than that in my opinion. It was hard to hear Joe singing, but thankfully in my mind most of these songs are more about the guitar playing which we could hear fine. This was the show that had been moved from an outdoor event at Houghton Tower due to weather conditions. So glad it was moved because I had been stressing about how we were to get to the show considering it was in the middle of the countryside and we had no car. It ended up being relocated to an indoor venue literally a block away from the hotel we were staying at. What a stroke of luck that was. We queued up early since it was a standing show and someone else who used to post on this forum a while ago joined us almost at the same time. So we hung out for a number of hours as the line started forming and discussed all things Joe, lol. I'm drawing a blank on his name, but it will come to me eventually. When the doors opened we all made a dash for the front and got ourselves situated in prime spots. The stage was low so it was a great straight on view of Joe and the stage wasn't too huge. A little difficult getting Reese and Joe in a frame at the same time. Really need a wide angle lens for that. So the camera kind of flies from one to the other at times. Joe and the guys put on a great show, lots of energy due to the crowd being all up close which you can really feel in the starting number of "Beck's Bolero/Rice Pudding". Fantastic version of "Double Crossing Time" and "Can't Quit You Baby". Joe's solos on those songs are so incredible and to have him play them literally right in front of you is just heaven. "Black Winter" was also one of my favorites at this show. The firebird's headstock felt like it was inches from me at times. I so love that instrumental piece. Joe does stuff on it that is otherworldly. I never want it to end. There was an issue with the Big Red guitar during "Pretending" and Joe had to quickly switch to "Spot". He wasn't happy with the snafu, but have to say when he gets annoyed, it really just amps up his solos. I think he takes his anger out in them. So for everyone listening it was actually a high point because his solo on "Spot" was intense. And of course we all marvel at how he can so quickly switch from one guitar to another right in the middle of a song. Mike Hickey is always on the ball. All in all it was a great show. We saw some friends there and we got a chance to say hi to Roy as well. An all around great time.
