Topic: Rik Emmett and Dave Dunlop
I've been following Rik Emmett and Dave Dunlop for a number of years now - Rik since early Triumph years and as a duo since 2006, typically picking them up in a small bar here in Toronto where Rik usually books his end of the year last show just before Christmas.
Rik and Dave are both very accomplished guitarists.
Rik of course is from the 70's-80's band Triumph; plays classical and jazz as well. he also teaches music at a local college.
Rik and Dave banter back and forth and Rik has this "crusty old man" dry sense of humour he tosses in.
He'll even heckle the crowd.
which he did this past Friday May 27,2016 when someone yelled out Play such n such song.
he responded by saying: "look pal,, I'm a professional, I can prove it because I wrote out a set list and its sitting on the floor in front of me,"
he intermixes stories of being on the road mostly with Triumph in the old days and those typically lead into the next song he's about to play.
drastically different show then we get from Joe B.
where we know Joe just plays straight through with little break, Rik plays chats, plays, chats, takes a 20min set break and play/chats some more.
I wasn't doing a full set of videos, I just grabbed a few, and most I wasn't even ready to start recording, so I missed a little bit of the starts and not using a 'steady cam' as well

(If only I had 1% of Joe's guitar talent)
