Re: Well....AC/DC may be done as well

Thinking about it again John, I think perhaps you are right.

There are two interesting examples. Scott Gorham reformed Thin Lizzy and toured extensively as Lizzy with Ricky Warwick on vocals. Great band and the songs were honestly and brilliantly presented. But they wanted to do new music and Scott wasn't comfortable doing that under the Lizzy banner. The fan reaction was against it too. So they formed Black Star Riders. The music and lyrics are Lizzy in style, and with Scott there it is acceptable to for BSR to have this DNA. Scott will still do occasional gigs as Lizzy as required when people want a Lizzy tribute show (his words).

Ritchie Blackmore's series of concerts this year is more in line with what perhaps Angus might have in mind. Just Ritchie and musicians hand picked by him to portray and present his classic rock music. The interest has been considerable, but maybe thats because Ritchie hasn't done anything like this for years. I said on here that I thought Ritchie could only lose, but maybe it all depends on the quality of the musician and the show.

I've seen Journey with Arnel Pineda and was frankly overjoyed to hear those classic Steve Perry songs so brilliantly presented. Never having seen Steve Perry in the band it didn't disturb me too much. Maybe there are enough ACDC fans that won't care either.

Re: Well....AC/DC may be done as well

Marc Storace of Krokus touting himself. Back in the day he could sound like Bon.

Brian could well have retired after this tour and maybe Angus intended for the group to continue anyway.

Re: Well....AC/DC may be done as well

Latest rumour is that Axl Rose has been seen at rehearsals. Heaven forbid!!!

Heard the same...... Please no.
I, personally, can't stand Axl Rose. In my book he's just a pompous ****. Kinda like GH.

Maybe it's just time for Angus & co to just call it a day?

Re: Well....AC/DC may be done as well

How about the guy from "Airborne" ? They pretty much patterned their whole sound after AC/DC.

Re: Well....AC/DC may be done as well

How about the guys from Hayseed Dixie?

We've probably all heard their renditions before Joe's shows. :-)

Re: Well....AC/DC may be done as well

Anything but Axl Rose.  Can't fathom that decision. sad

Come on the Blades (sorry Idolbone just had to borrow your line)

Re: Well....AC/DC may be done as well

- never been so happy to have missed out on getting tickets to see AC/DC. They are turning into a complete and utter joke. As a kid I would have many a debate with my mate who was a big Rush fan, me for the simpler rock of AC/DC, him for the complexity of Rush. If we were to rerun those arguments again I am sure that he could claim to be following the more dignified band, with their retirement news based on ill health.

Re: Well....AC/DC may be done as well

while I agree that he is a total joke and cannot stand him, they are only talking about the remaining 10 shows on the tour. They have a bunch of fans who have bought tickets already, and they need to honor their commitment to finish the tour instead of just shutting it down, I admire that. Let us not condemn prior to investigation, he could be a good temporary fit.

As corn through a goose, so are the days of our lives

Re: Well....AC/DC may be done as well

Here is a new article. If it happens looks like Axl would do the US shows. No word on the European ones.

Re: Well....AC/DC may be done as well

Never rated Axl and all I have seen makes he a bit of a Prima Donna. That is Angus' job and role. He is the main man. Brian used to leave him in front most of the time. Can't see Axl doing that. Hope to be proved wrong but...... sad

Re: Well....AC/DC may be done as well

It sounds like the deal is done, and I don't have tickets anyway. smile But if I did and they asked me, I'd like to see Pat Monahan sing. It might be a little different since he's not raspy, but (IMO) he is fantastic covering Aerosmith and Led Zep, so why not one more iconic band in the portfolio.

Re: Well....AC/DC may be done as well

Axl Rose confirmed !!!!!!!

Oh Jeezzz! So frickin strange.

It was confirmed yesterday, and Angus played with GnR last night at Coachella....Rosie and Riff Raff.

Re: Well....AC/DC may be done as well

- well never have the words of Malcolm McLaren been truer:  “The Great Rock ’n’ Roll Swindle’. Whilst I can understand the passion and drive from Angus to keep doing what he loves, he could have done this with more dignity. AC/DC were always a band, - not Angus Young, - when Bon died I am glad that they kept gong, but this appears that have just treated Brian like an employee forgetting the fact that it was his singing and charisma that pulled the band through from what could have been the end.  I was there in 1978/79 and 1980 paying my £10.50 to see the band, I think they could have been more respectful of their fans.
