Re: British Blues Explosion Tribute @ Red Rocks 7/19

After all the fabulous write ups coming out of England, any idea what scalpers are getting for this show.  I know people that spent $500 per ticket for 7th row at Joe's concert in Clearwater last year.  This is a once in a life time show.  Can't imagine what they could get for front row seats.

The only thing we deserve, is an opportunity.  Everything else has to be earned.

I've seen several listings for tickets at face value, including one 2nd row single.

Keeping the faith Denver weather will cooperate!

Re: British Blues Explosion Tribute @ Red Rocks 7/19

The thunderstorm created a slight delay (8:13pm start time), but during the show it was northing worse than a few sprinkles and a little wind.  In fact Joe & Co probably enjoyed it as it cooled them off.  I'm too tired and frankly, emotionally overwhelmed to post a proper review at the moment.  I'll update an existing, or start a new thread tomorrow with a better review.

It seems like Joe felt it too, but tonight was special.  He announced at the end of the show that (without a tribute performance which he said he's done with for at least a while...) he's already booked for Red Rocks August 2017.  Imagine selling out 9000 seats without a limited tour and/or PBS supported show?

Joe dedicated tonight's show to our mutual friend John Catt. His work with kids and the enormous impact he has had on many and support of the Colorado Blues scene is awesome. Your the best John

Mike wing beat me to it - Joe will be back Aug 2017.  Crowd loved the announcement and tonight's show.  Grateful to those of you who saw the European shows and tipped off some of the selections.  "Pretending" was absolutely wicked!

Re: British Blues Explosion Tribute @ Red Rocks 7/19

Some fans reported they missed the show's first songs even with the delayed start, though some had been in the lot for hours. The one hour rain delay for the gates' opening made a big crowd in the S. lot a huge queue snaking up the walkway and security was patting down each as they entered, further delaying the seating. Many fans were very disappointed.

Oh man, that sucks. I saw people posting photos of the huge line and I worried that this might happen. To have traveled that far and been on time to the venue, and then to miss the first songs would have been unbelievably irritating. That venue has limited entry spots which sure makes a line grow. Feel bad for everyone that this happened to.

I know Joe is a stickler for starting a show on time, but this was a different situation.  Someone in Joe's management team needed to say something and let the people get in their seats. He pays people to make things go right.  He has a show to do.  If  he is going  to larger venue's there is a different dynamic than playing the 2500 seat room, he's used to.
I remember going to a Pink Floyd concert at the football stadium in Tampa years ago.  It was on a Friday night at 7:30.  We left  our house at 3:30 for what is normally a 30 minute drive, but with rush hour traffic and a sold out show, we did not get into the stadium until the band was into their second song.  Which is bad enough but as I got to my seat I looked around and the stadium was not close to being half full and as I said it was a sold out show.  It took it another 30-45minutes to fill up, and the band played on.  I remember thinking that the band was more interested in what they had going on after the show than the thousands of paying fans.  I know that is not Joe's attitude, in fact he is just the opposite, but someone needs to be paying attention or it reflects poorly on Joe.

Re: British Blues Explosion Tribute @ Red Rocks 7/19

Actually, they did delay the show for about 15 minutes to allow us all to get in.  I think that was a fair balance.  Although I did miss part of Beck's Bolero and didn't get my gear settled in at my seat until well into the 3rd or 4th songs.  Such a tough call at Red Rocks, especially that night.  Because the weather cell that dumped on us at 7 pm looked likely to bring in another wave of rain about an hour & a half later.  Gotta be tough to see concerts at Red Rocks. LOL

Re: British Blues Explosion Tribute @ Red Rocks 7/19

Great show sorry to hear others had issues getting in. We were told around 6:20 or so there would be a 60 to 90 minute delay. For me I am glade it happened at all the weather that was there at the time did not look as if it was going to go away. The show started at 8:16
Great seats.... sounded awesome
Cheers Ron

Re: British Blues Explosion Tribute @ Red Rocks 7/19

A further delay would have been tolerated by the audience given the deluge. We were safely tucked inside with the "high roller package", but it was bad out there.

On the flip side, thumbs up to the entire organization for the quality of the package and nearly flawless execution. Some of the seats were a bit far to the side than would be expected, but other than that, great job and a fun group to spend several hours with.

The show itself lived up to all of the U.K. reviews and then some. "Pretending" and "SWLABR" were my personal favorites. JB's love of and affinity for Clapton shone.

Thanks J&R. Well done.

Re: British Blues Explosion Tribute @ Red Rocks 7/19

Red Rocks seems to have a very very strict policy on ending the show in a timely manner, so the decision to start gets tougher in response.  Glad your "high roller" package proved to be a winner on all counts.  Django may have been my favorite but I loved every minute of the show.  I did hear Beck's Bolero mostly from outside security though and that's one of my favorites.  Row 19 in the center was a great place, I love seeing the lights of Denver and the clouds during the show.

Re: British Blues Explosion Tribute @ Red Rocks 7/19

If paying customers were upset and they had a legitmate right to be upset, then there is a problem.  If Red Rocks is the problem, then J&R Ventures needs to do some negotiating with them, to make sure this does not happen to Joe's fans again.  If Red Rocks can't or won't oblige, then Joe needs to find another place to play.  I remember not to long ago Joe was asked to leave a hotel because he was listening to music for an upcoming show in a public part of the hotel.  He was quite irate, even coming on this site to say he spent a lot of money there and would not return.  Still not sure why he was not using ear phones. But, the point is, he was a paying customer and felt inconvienced and disrespected, so he vowed to never return again.  Will he have the same irritation for his fans sake that traveled 100s if not thousands of miles at great expense, only to be shut out of part of the show, because some one had a schedule to keep.  I know Joe has already announced that he has a date at Red Rocks for next year.  It will be interesting to see if changes are made to protect Joe's fans from the mistreatment they received last night.  I have been both a promoter and owner of a venue, changes happen all the time to the riders of contracts.  Successful people put the ticket buying fan first.
