Joe's tone pots and volume pots

I don't recall ever seeing that had he played an anything but stock guitar unless the previous owner had changed something. I believe he keeps electronic pretty stock.

Thank you. I plan on presenting Joe with a PRS Singlecut with flame maple 10 top. It's a 2002 and has remained 100% all stock. I did not know if I should install a set of Joe's preferred pots. PRS uses top quality parts so I was hoping I didn't have to remove the "all stock" from its description. No, I have absolutely no affiliation with PRS Guitars. Trust me when I say you don't want to hear the rather lengthy reason behind me wanting to give Joe this gift. The short version is his music and live performances have done so much to get me through some rough times. This guitar is my way of saying "thank you". I think the only part I may switch out is the bridge for one that allows for more accurate intonation. Who knows. Many blessings my friend.

I hope it will go over pretty well. The problem is I have no idea how to go about getting backstage to give Joe his gift. When the time comes I'll figure it out. My biggest fear is Joe opening the case and showing obvious disappointment in what I am giving to him. Sure, the chances of that happening are fairly minimal but until it happens you just never know. Joe doesn't have dates scheduled anywhere in Texas so I have no idea of when I can even give him this guitar. As long as I don't think about it too much then the day will arrive sooner than I think.

Doug, thanks for the heads up on how I could possibly meet Joe so that I could give him the guitar. You're exactly right when you mentioned Joe appreciating the guitar because of being a guitar nerd. Falling into that category myself, I guess there hasn't been a guitar built that I would turn away. Every guitar made inherently has something unique and special all unto itself.

Does anyone know how I can possibly present the guitar to Joe without having to buy a ticket and subsequent meet n greet pass?  With my social phobia I am pretty sure I will not be able to remain to watch his show.  The only sort of recent show I was able to attend was when my friend's band allowed me to watch from the side of the stage.  I can't imagine Joe's people allowing such a thing. 

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.  It would be such a disappointment if I were unable to present Joe with this gift which means so much to me.  A guitar is nothing compared to someone who literally, in every sense of the word, has saved my life on more than one occasion.  I know there are no words or actions I can say or do to properly repay what he has done for me but the closest thing to demonstrating my deep appreciation is to give him my final/only guitar left.  For a guitar junkie like myself, that is a big "sacrifice".  I don't care for the word "sacrifice" because it makes it appear as if I'm doing something I wish I didn't have to.  I want to do this for him and for myself.  Giving up my only guitar makes a statement.  It definitely says "I cannot possibly thank you enough.  This guitar is simply a start".  Many blessings to all of you who have shown so much support and understanding about what I am hoping to do, give Joe a cherished PRS Singlecut.

I understand everything you just said. And, you're exactly right. Don't worry about my happiness being attached to meeting Joe. If it happens, then great. If not, then I guess it wasn't meant to be. Through all my struggles I'm still here enjoying life with my two sons and wife. Family, that's where true happiness lies.

If I may say this one thing about the struggles I face on a daily basis, I know there are many people out there who struggle as much as me or even more. I'm not trying to be a martyr. But, I don't mind sharing the difficulties I'm faced with and will continue to be faced with for the remainder of my life. One question you'll never hear me ask is "why me?"  The reason is not important. Enjoying life to the fullest is the key. I know my limitations so it is easy to remain within those "barriers". However, every now and then I take a step outside of my comfort zone. At first it's only for a VERY short while. Over time I am able to build a stronger tolerance. One thing I know for sure, when things get a little rough I simply return to my comfort zone...music and guitars. Part of that comfort zone use to also consist of working with my patients but that is now part of my history. I thank the Lord he gave me the time I WAS able to help people instead of never having experienced the joy of watching another person get better/return to a healthy life.

More than once I literally cried when witnessing the journey one of my patients took to eventually reach the point to where they returned to a normal life ("normal" is a relative term meaning something slightly different to every one of us). "Normal" is a term I never used with my patients. We are individuals so in no way can that word apply the same way to all of us. My phrase of choice was "average range".

That brings me to an interesting question. I've never kept it a secret that helping patients get better always made me feel wonderful. Was helping my patients somehow a form of selfishness on my part?  I'll have to say no because I believe it is natural to find joy in someone else's triumphs. I could talk about music, guitars, and medicine all day. This is where I should end my post. Nobody wants to read a book on here.

Hi I read your story. A friend of mine has the same issues as you. It seems you know your issues so that is a big part of the solution. You gotta do what you gotta do but I know for a fact Joe would rather you keep the guitar and play it. Let playing take you to that happy place like Joes music does. At some point when he comes to your town try to get a meet and greet to meet him. But I say keep the guitar.
