Western Sand - Cut You Down To Size EP

Powerful 2nd EP of hard, Southern Rock from these guys from down south (or dahn..sarf?). And good stuff it is too. Jimmy, Nathan, Tyle & Findlay have been together 4 years now and been racking up some tasty support slots (Nazareth, Black Star Riders, Michael Schenker, Inglorious) and building a strong following.

Louder than the recent norm (well, since RavenEye or VATA) so the ol’ ears are in for a drubbing come Feb.

Shawn was a true genius, a more tasteful shredder than most. He probably doesn't make most peoples top 50 of all time, I have him in the top 20. You can try some of this at home, but you will be sorely disappointed.........RIP Shawn

So, what am I listening to? Well, it’s hot off the presses and currently only available on the Planet Rock tour; but those Federal Charm lads have nipped back into the studio and acoustically re-worked 8 of their favourite songs from their 2 albums. Well, if your going to cover someone, who better than yourselves.
This shows another side of the band, rather more laid back then their usual driving energy, but the songs stil work well, and I’m going to say it again, reinforces my comparison to Humble Pie, and if you don’t believe me, dig out Eat It, and see.
So, this has been Federal Charm and the album Crossed Wires.

Driving through the middle of Newcastle (never been this close to St James’ since Queen played there), chilling to Jethro Tull’s Christmas Album. Have Blackmore’s Night’s Winter Carols for the return leg.
