Topic: New amp: Bogner Brixton

So, maybe some of you saw on the marketplace page that I was selling or trying to trade a Budda combo that I had for years. The longest running amp i my stable. Alas I needed (and still need) a LP, but mainly was trying to offset the money I dropped on a 1963 Brownface Deluxe Reverb.

The market is pretty crap right now for the individual seller and after 3 months on reverb and other forums and considering dropping my initial asking price which was very fair for what the amp was (30% drop for initial) I finally got a trade offer in TGP that intrigued me. My Budda for a Bogner Brixton. After some online research and hearing the tones I pulled the trigger on the trade. It came loaded with a Celestion Creamback, in its original box from Bogner the cover, and the trader even included a head shell so I could run it as a head and 1x12 cab.

The Brixton is no longer made and it was designed and sold as a high gain combo, switchable from 12 to 6 watts. The 12 W setting is plenty loud for gigs, maybe even too loud. Played it an outdoor gig this past weekend using my newly revived (refretted) pre-lawsuit 1976 Electra Omega (my first guitar). The Bogner really does a great job at the gain game but running the master volume high up and the gain in the middle (depending where the gain structure switch is) you can still get enough headroom to boost and or overdrive the amp for some gainier settings and solos. Takes delay and flanger effects very well even if it is not in a loop (there isn't one). In 6 W mode it is still pretty loud but you can actually dial in a very dirty tone at whisper volumes for home use. Very versatile amp. May keep this one for a while.
