Topic: If you do one thing today, then watch this clip

One of the greatest players ever to pick up a guitar is Glen Campbell.  Not many realise what a fabulous player he is.

But as he descends into the final stages of Alzheimers, he has had the bravery and dignity to release this song about his fight with the disease and what he knows is to come.

I shed more than one tear when listening to this and my admiration for him now goes way beyond his playing.

Thank u hulldanfan for posting the video link ... you said it ... true admiration ... (a public face and message to the heartache many families cope with everyday with this terrible disease.)

CNN produced a great documentary that aired this past weekend about Glen ... I don't see that they may be re-airing it ... but I may have to dig a bit deeper on their site:

And the official "I'll Be Me" movie site:

I watched the documentary.  It was very well done and very heartbreaking  to see him start down the path of living with Alzheimer's.  One of the last things to go from a mental/memory standpoint was his ability to make music but you could see him struggle at times.

I understand that he is pretty far down the road with Alzheimer's and he even has trouble communicating at all now.  A very sad and completely debilitating disease.

If you get the opportunity to watch the documentary, I highly recommend it.  I not only learned more about Alzheimer's, but also what an amazing life and career he had.  I certainly knew about him but not quite about the impact and inspiration that he was to so many.

It is heartbreaking and at the same time uplifting. I grew up with his music, seems like only us old farts really appreciate his talent through the years. I will have to catch the documentary at some point. I do know now that he is of Scottish decent, and apparently learned to play the bagpipes at some point. The people he played with and the credits are stunning to say the least. He will forever be gentle on my mind.

I found where HLN (Headline News Network - CNN's sister station) is scheduled to re -air this Friday @ 9PM.(ET) and CNN will do so on Saturday (July 4) at 9 PM (ET)

Edit:  I saw on my Comcast Grid this morning (7/2)  HLN is airing at 9 (EST) Friday night.  If your using Comcast DVR search ... the program is called CNN Films. 2 hours run time.
