Topic: Don't Burn Down That Bridge

Just heard an Albert King version from the 1973 live album "Blues At Sunrise".  Hip stuff, no idea he played the tune I always associated with Joe.

Vette,

I'm sure you have heard "Blues at Sunrise" the song that Albert King did with Stevie Ray Vaughn, right? It was on Stevie's box set and is one of my favoite guitar duets ever recorded.......priceless!

Roy

There is a DVD of Albert and Stevie too that is really good...

Music is good for the Soul...

Re: Don't Burn Down That Bridge

Not an official dvd. However, there is an Albert King and SRV cd called In Session. There are 11 songs, four of which are Albert and Stevie talking. The other seven are songs, Call It Stormy Monday, Pride And Joy, Ask Me No Questions (also on the SRV box set), Blues At Sunrise (on Stevie's blues compilation Blues At Sunrise), Overall Junction, Matchbox Blues, and Don't Lie To Me. Really killer disc. At one point, Albert tells Stevie, "I'm about to turn it over to you." He basically passes the torch onto Stevie. Stevie's response is classic: "Ah, I don't believe that!"

I always associate BB King's Never Make Your Move Too Soon with Joe too. BB King's version is completely different. A good listen though!

Re: Don't Burn Down That Bridge

oh yeah I'm well familiar with that album.  I dig the old stuff albert king did for Stax records which has Booker T. & The MG's and the Memphis Horns backing him up.

Born Under A Bad Sign = best blues album of all-time. Unquestioned, in my mind.
