Another fantastic night last night. First set was definitely the stand out with a whole bunch of the new songs. The soloing Joe is doing at these shows are the most mindblowing experiences. I seriously don't know how he does it. It's like we're transported to a whole different dimension and with Tal drumming away like a madman along with him. When this whole band is going full speed ahead it's not a freight train, it's a freakin' rocket ship! Joe was using "The Runt" tonight. A 1960 burst with the most awesome tone. Phil got to watch Mike change out all the strings on it before the show and he let Phil keep them. Really cool. Joe ended up breaking strings on two different guitars on one song. It's no wonder with the bends and fierceness he was putting into his playing. Quite something to watch the change out of guitars while the song was going on. Really wish I could get that video up right now, but during the day, for some reason, the upload speed is horrendously slow. 500 minutes for one video. That's why I've been doing them late at night after the show. Then it only takes 20 minutes per song. Best New Year's Eve Ever!! Sooo much fun at the Baked Potato last night! Justin had the place all decorated with balloons and things hanging from the ceiling. Band was in top form. Joe played "Spot" on this night. They played "Heartbeat" right up to the Midnight hour. Joe had to cut his solo a little short, kept checking his watch, then it wasn't quite time so they kept doing another round of the ending building it more and more until it was exactly Midnight, celebration & merriment ensued. It's all on the "Heartbeat" video. Such a fun time. I tried to get up as many songs as possible before the internet has now ground down to practically a halt. I guess everyone in the LA area is now awake and using the bandwith. I'll put up the rest after we get back home this weekend.

While there we also had a good time hanging with Mike Hickey. Phil watched him change the strings on "The Runt" and got the leftover strings. On the third night, Joe was playing "Spot" and Phil and I both hung out with him while he was stringing "Spot" got some nice photos. Also got a really nice photo with all the guys in the band but Joe. At the Baked Potato we don't bug Joe for photos. It's one of the only places he can be somewhat free from people hassling him for photos and signatures. It's a very low key kind of place.
