Topic: NAD Germino Masonett

Anyone else love Germino Amps. Great plexi style amps, and the Masonett 25 delivers the goods early, so you don't kill the folks in the audiance. Clean its 18 watts, and driven it peaks at 35. I have it paired with a couple differnt 2x12s, one has some vintage 25 watt black back Celestions for smaler venues, and the other has Heritage 65 Celestions that don break up as quick. I've got old Marshall 2203's, Silver Jubilees, and a Goodsell Custom 33,and a few others but this is my favorite. Im thinking of ordering the Lead 55 next.

Congrats on the Masonett!

I own a Lead 55LV with a few subtle tweaks (by Greg) that I really love. I have it paired with a Germino 4x12 with Greenbacks.

I may one day look into a Monterey (JTM45/100) as well, as that's another tone I really dig.

Cheers!

Greg makes amazing amps.....

Do you find the Lead 55 to much for clubbing venues?

Hi,

I actually don't have any issues at all...

I have a PPIMV (I have the honor of having the first one installed by Greg on one of his amps, I believe) and also a Bad Cat Unleash, so have choices for knocking down the volume, if desired. With either of these, I'm actually able to play the amp at bedroom volume, if desired. For this low of volume, the Unleash will be the clear winner over the MV, which will affect the tone more significantly when dialed back to that extent.

If I had neither of these options, I think that it would be too loud for small venues where a typical rock drummer mic'd up would be too loud, but fine for larger places that let you turn up a bit and are okay with the stage volume. It would be unusable as a bedroom/apartment/residential amp.

Also, I'm running mine with a basket weave 4x12 with Greenbacks, which are not as efficient as some other speakers, which reduces volume a bit as well (say, in comparison to my cabs with V30's).

Hope that helps!

Re: NAD Germino Masonett

As an example of low volume with this amp... This would normally be a pretty loud tone to get, but I was using the Unleash here and the volume was low enough to have a loud conversation over...

Was in a little bit of a Jimi mood at the moment, hence the fuzz ;-)...

Re: NAD Germino Masonett

Cool. I have really been impressed with the Masonett. I know Greg likes to run his with Greenbacks, and I found 4 older ones from the early 80's, but I found out I like the 65-12s more.
