Topic: Sonic Highways

Did anyone watch this on HBO last night? I did and it was really good. The Foo Fighters traveled to 8 different cities and spent a week in each city. They recorded one song in each city for the upcoming album. Last night's episode was in Chicago, and Dave Grohl interviewed several musicians including Buddy Guy, Joe Walsh, Bonnie Raitt, Jimmie Vaughan, Rick Nielsen, etc. After he did the interviews in each city, he took the transcripts of each interview, and wrote certain words down, and that's how he came up with the songs for the album. If you haven't watched it, you should. Next week's episode will be in Washington DC.

I haven't seen it yet (don't currently have HBO) but looking forward to watching it. Saw this clip of Dave interviewing Buddy Guy.

Love the album!

Here's an interview with Dave about the project. Really enjoyed it. I didn't realize they had the instrumentals done ahead of time, and even chose which instrumental went with each city. Then when it was time to lay down the vocals in each city Dave looked through his notes from his interviews and put the lyrics together like the night before they recorded. That seems like a lot of pressure. The album came out great.
