Really curious what else this guy has, and are those autographs real?  If I wasn't just a tire kicker I'd love to check it out.

The Gibson logo and headstock are consistent with early 70's lespauls, as I have a'72 black custom as well. The gold covered humbuckers in 72 had "gibson" embossed on them, so either those are custom pickups, or that's really a '71 or '73-74...

With it it being 42 years old and in OK shape (an assumption on my part), I can't help but wonder if the autographs, should they be real, help or hurt the value.

The "waffle back" tuners on the early 70's nicer Gibsons like this are really cool too.

So, as it turns out, all original.  Different pick-up covers maybe.  Apparently the autographs were obtained 2 weeks before Les passed away, however he was in the hospital at the time and did not sign the guitar.  That's a bummer.  Asking price $4500 Canadian.

Well north of my $ comfort zone as I expected.

It is.  If it had Les Paul's autograph that would help.  It goes on ebay soon if he doesn't find a buyer first.
