Topic: Red rock KTBA give away

Hi all
I am posting this only to ask you all to support this new young Guitar player his name is Austin Young. Check him out on his Facebook page. I donated one of my JB aged gold tops to Joe's Keep the Blues Alive foundation last November. I asked Joe to help find a deserving young player that had the chops and the character that would take this gift and go on to make great music and inspire others to keep this music that I love going forward. We only ask that someday that Austin pay forward. I would like to thank Joe for his hospitality for letting me be a part of this and invite me to rehearsal. Then I nearly had a heart attack when he handed me Skinner to noodle on. I would also like to thank my new friend John Catt of Blue Star connection for helping us find Austin. I am truely humbled by the work he does with young kids with life threatening illnesses to give them a boost by the gift of instruments. He is truely one of a kind.
For me it is all about the music and how it can save the soul.
Thanks again Joe
Cheers Ron

Re: Red rock KTBA give away

Ron you just made my day!  I have always enjoyed reading about your various efforts to support the younger generation and the Blues ( and have often lusted after your guitar collection as well) but I am so happy to see you supporting someone that I have known and been a fan of for a long time.

Anyone who has been involved in the Blues scene around Denver for any period of time is surely familiar with Austin.  He has been a rising star in the blues scene here for quite awhile and I have throroughly enjoyed watching him grow.  You will not meet a nicer/more humble kid and his talent is off the charts.  Also...a true lover and supporter of the Blues genre.  I cannot wait to see Austin rip it up on that guitar.  He must be on cloud 9.  I am hoping that based on these pictures having been taken at the Red Rocks rehearsal that perhaps Austin will get to play something with Joe at Red Rocks.  That would be fantastic.   I have seen Austin live many many times and have had the pleasure of seeing him share the stage with many blues greats.  His jamming with Ronnie Baker Brooks is one that comes to mind that was incredible.  But seeing him play with Joe at Red Rocks would obviously be the ultimate.

Regardless, I just want to say thanks Ron for your support of Austin and also your continued support of the Blues in general.

Ron
You sure are a "Pay it Forward" kind of guy.

A wonderful gesture, Ron.  I am not familiar with Austin but I will certainly keep an eye (and ear) out for him in the future.  Best of luck to him and thank you for your devotion to helping others.  You're amazing.

a +1 to what has been posted Ron.  (Great photos and memories no doubt.)

Incredible generosity. I wonder if they could fit him in on the cruise?

Re: Red rock KTBA give away

Here is the link to a video I was alerted to by a friend from a Colorado Springs news station regarding the guitar giveaway to Austin.  Joe, Ron, and Austin are all featured.  An exciting side bar is that the station also announces as part of the piece that Joe will be playing the 8000 seat Colorado Springs World Arena in April of 2015!!    So....I am incredibly excited that I will have another opportunity to see Joe in Colorado next year.

Enjoy everyone.

Ron,

I thoroughly enjoyed watching the video.......your generosity is beyond inspiring and thoughtful.  Loved the piece when it says "Joe's friend and fellow guitar enthusiast Ron Connatser", what a lovely introduction.

The pic that you sent me with Skinner, is FREAKING EPIC BRO!!!!!!

Hope you have a GREAT time at Red Rocks..........

Re: Red rock KTBA give away

Well done Ron.  Just watched the video.  you and Joe for sure made Austin's day and set an example of paying it forward.  another reason to love Joe and you of course.  thanks

Re: Red rock KTBA give away

Since we were there at the M&G when you first donated the guitar to Joe, it has been so cool to see how it all has played out. You are a truly special guy Ron. It was wonderful to meet Austin and his Mom at the Beaver Creek show and Red Rocks as well. What wonderful people they are and you could tell Austin was still somewhat dazed by the whole experience. We will have to keep our eyes out for him, no doubt he will go far.

Re: Red rock KTBA give away

I can personally testify to Ron's generous nature. Last tour in New England, some may recall, he was giving great seats (turned out to be "pit" seats) away but you had to be a "youngin" i.e. high school student type, etc.
No one answered Ron's call for FREE primo tics for the Providence show. I "generously" offered to accompany Ron as his 2nd option was to "give" the tics to a dedicated Joe B fan. I will never forget the extremely generous nature of Ron...
