Topic: Trying to do my part

Just an FYI.....The company I work for puts on a fairly large festival in Syracuse NY called the "Taste of Syracuse". This past weekend at the main stage I insisted that only Joe Bonamassa music be played in between bands etc...Friday during the Sammy awards...Saturday preceding Alexa Ray Joel (Billy Joels daughter) and preceding the Eddie Money show...the only thing allowed to play was Joe Bonamassa. : )  I was fortunate enough to be the backstage manager for the main stage and was able to have numerous conversations with many of the local bands, Eddie moneys crew etc...they all know of and admire Joe's talent. The Sound and Stage crew were particularly happy when I nanded them all of my JB cd's to play......I watched the crowd to see the response to Joe and everybody was rockin !  My 2 cents...take care...Sogs

Hey Sogs,
Can you do anything about getting Joe at the Bluesfest in Syracuse?
Signed,

Re: Trying to do my part

Actually....I am trying to get  approval to pursue Joe for the Taste of Syracuse next year for the Main Stage. Should know more in a month or so...since we start working on the next TOS almost immediately following the conclusion of this years event.

I think i saw Joe at the Blues Fest several years ago....We do not run that show...but we know the folks that do pretty well. If I hit a dead end for our event...you know I'll be making some phone calls to the Blues Fest Folks.

One of the odd caveats that we were faced with a few years ago in trying to book Joe for the TOS was....and I may have the details jumbled a bit....but the Turning Stone Casino has some language in there entertainment agreements that states any act that performs at the Turning Stone can not play a venue within a certain amount of miles from the Turning Stone for 90 days....I think that might have been the reason we were unable to secure Joe a few years back....maybe if Joe reads this he can elaborate..

Just know that we are trying !!

Taste of Syracuse sounds good to me. Unfortunately, I didn't know about that attraction or I would've checked it out. Yes, I remember Joe's appearance at the Bluesfest all too well; I missed it: July '02. Something came up at the last minute. Been looking forward to an outdoor show ever since. I wonder if Joe could play Miller Court at the State Fair? smile

That's a geographical restriction clause that is in most contracts.  If you didn't have that, one of the shows would zap the ticket sales of the other and the artist basically competes against themselves in the same market.

Re: Trying to do my part

im trying to figure out a way to get him back to arkansas this year..our riverfest is booked or over i cant remember which lol, we have alot of fests...ive never gotten a chance to see him live. gonna try

Re: Trying to do my part

Joe will be in Tulsa in July, but even closer Springfield MO this Monday and Tuesday. The Tulsa show is all ages. I don't know about Springfield. He is worth a drive.

Re: Trying to do my part

Springfield is 21 and over unless accompanied by an of-age person. I'm kind of frustrated with the ticket situation, I ordered tickets last Tuesday and they still aren't here. I'm calling them tomorrow. If they don't show up I'm gonna be pissed, I spent 60 bucks and it would be my first time to see Joe.

Wouldn't hurt to call them up to check on the status Deezer.  Your first time to see Joe?  That should a memorable event then! Let us know how it turns out...

Re: Trying to do my part

I called today, they said that even if I don't get the tickets,  I still get a table reserved and my name on a list, so technically I don't have to have the tickets to get in. So I guess I'm going. Can't wait.

Remembering your post I took an opportunity at the annual Bricktown Blues Fest here. I have been trying to get Joe booked there for the last 4 years. Well he finally played there kind of. You and Me was played during every break on Friday. Saturday he played through most of the day.

Johnny Winter headlined Saturday night. Best turnout in 11 years 3,000. people. Pretty good for an Oklahoma event.
