Topic: KISS in the Rock n Roll HOF

Anybody following the updates on this?

Very disheartening.

Ace & Peter should be able to perform with stand-ins if they wanna play. Like original GnR guys did last year sans Axl.
It's ridiculous to think that Ace and Peter would play alongside the musicians paid to play in their original makeup.

KISS has elected not to play the HOF ceremony in any shape or form. Stupid.

Re: KISS in the Rock n Roll HOF

It's sad.  I listened to an interview with Paul, I understood his reasoning for not performing, but I did not completely agree with it.  They obviously can do whatever the heck they want, and for whatever reasons they have.  His opinion of The HOF is not without merit, I found myself nodding in agreement with him on a few points.

I remember watching the RUSH induction last year and the feeling it gave me, and the feeling it seemed to give them and all their fans. This is where I could not agree with Paul on some of his points.  Selfish, maybe, but it is just one of those things their fans, who put them where they are, deserve.  Their fans want this.

Re: KISS in the Rock n Roll HOF

They have a pretty messy history.

I know Ace and Peter often seem like junior members of the band compared to Gene and Paul, but it comes down to work ethic.  Ace is the poster child of a slacker and Peter never seemed to embrace the creative and marketing plan.  If it was because he only cared about the music that's fine, but KISS was far greater than the music, so I can understand why Gene and Paul didn't find that to be acceptable.  They do the work and the other two simply enjoy the benefits?  Seems unfair.

Both Ace and Peter have been out of the band longer than they were in, but they are the classic line-up for sure.  Still, the legacy continues because of other past as well as the current members.  Yeah, it's a mess.

Just wait until Deep Purple gets in.  They have exponentially more members that can claim legitimate membership.  At least everyone gets along there except for Ritchie of course.  And there is zero chance he would even care.  He's a nut.

I think the fact that they are not in proves the lack of credibility of this “award”.  - I think we all get too wrapped up in the importance of awards at times forgetting that in a lot of instances they are essentially a marketing or sales tool.

Re: KISS in the Rock n Roll HOF

I agree with Stanley's comments on the HOF being private and not reputable. That said, I am a card carrying paying member of it.

Alas, only the original 4 were inducted. Not Vinny Vincent, Mark St. John, Bruce Kulick, Eric Carr, etc. which I think is another bad element to this.

The third and worst element is that Eric Singer and Tommy Thayer are in Catman and Space Ace costumes. If KISS wanted to perform in their current lineup along side of the two other original members... there is a MAJOR conflict of interest.

As KISS, they know they'd be out of business with their new currently lineup if they had a reunion with the originals for one day.

My final thought on this is that Ace and Peter should be allowed to perform with stand-ins for Gene and Paul if they wanted. I don't know why the HOF is refusing this.

I'm writing a letter to the HOF foundation stating that sentiment.

Re: KISS in the Rock n Roll HOF

Their music was never that good.  They don't belong in the HOF.  They were more of an act.  But since the HOF is a freaking joke designed only to make money, who cares.

If you look up to the heavens just before the start of every Joe Bonamasaa concert you can see Stevie, Jimi, Muddy, Gary and others leaning over God’s railing jockeying for the best view.
And if you listen, you can hear Stevie say  “ SHHhhhh,  The kids about to start playing.”
