Topic: Music for Donation

Hello all!
I keep introducing myself in each post, for those of you that don't know me - I was lucky enough to be one of the finalists in Guitar Center's Blues Masters this past year, and got to play with Joe and his band out in LA. I wanted to share an exciting new thing that I'm doing - I've partnered up with usemusic.org and the Seattle Children's Hospital, and have put out a song that will go to them as a "download donation" - so everytime you buy the song for $1, they receive all the profits. The only amount they don't get is the credit card processing fee.

The song, Rock n' Roll Dreams, is a ballad that I wrote with an old buddy of mine years ago. It is a little "Disney After-School Special" although the lyrics are 100% genuine - its just about being a young musician and having big dreams. I've always liked it, but as I've grown older its not really "me" anymore. I decided I wanted to do some good with it - and I could think of no better use than for it to potentially help improve the lives of sick children.

I was inspired to do this actually by (believe it or not) a New England Patriots fan. I, being a New Englander, am a die hard Pats fan and I saw a story recently about Sam Berns who was a young Pats fan with Progeria. He had I guess written to Pats owner Robert Kraft asking for a $500 donation to disease research, and Kraft ended up donating $500,000 and making him an honorary member of the team. Sadly Sam passed away just before the Pats playoff victory last weekend. Now we've all heard stories like this before - but I think since I've been a father now for a few years, it really got to me, and I decided to seek out ways that I too could give to helping sick children. Sadly I'm not Robert Kraft and don't find $20,000 in a coat that I haven't worn for a while, but I feel like I can give of myself and hope that my music can do some good.

Anyway, hope you all enjoy the song - its lighthearted and fun, with lots of guitar! And its just a dollar which all goes to a good cause.

Cheers
Jack

PS I've been trying to connect with Keeping the Blues Alive about putting out an original blues album fundraiser with some of the other Blues Masters finalists- haven't heard back from anyone yet, but I'll keep trying!
