Topic: Peter Frampton

http://youtu.be/CLA4ljIxW44

I don't listen to Frampton as much as I used to but gave one of his CDs a spin today.  It was like I was hearing him for the first time again.  Which is an awesome feeling.   I have to say that "Lines on My Face" is one of my all-time favorites.

I've heard a few variations of this song and no matter what Frampton does to it, it's still an awesome song.

What an amazing player.

Re: Peter Frampton

I saw him live a few months ago and he rocked! He did all his classics which included Lines on my Face, also included his instrumental cover of Black Hole Sun. You should check that out if you haven't already!

Re: Peter Frampton

Awesome!  I've heard his shows are pretty lively.

Funny story to share, I must have been 8 or 9 and hadn't really gotten into my own music yet and my dad made me a cassette tape of Peter Frampton's - Frampton Comes Alive album. Told me it was the greatest album ever.  The problem is he also include Billy Thorpe's - Children of the Sun on the same tape.  My dad neglected to label the cassette tape, handed it to me and simply told me it was Peter Frampton.  For years I thought the whole entire cassette tape was Peter Frampton!!  It wasn't until I got into college that I realized that the second part of the tape was NOT Peter Frampton but Billy Thorpe.  HA HA

HAHA! That is great! I have done that with numerous artists as well! I also love that song, ironically I went to high school with a guy named Billy Thorpe!

Re: Peter Frampton

Framptom is awesome!  the dvd he released last year recreating the comes alive disc is one of the best dvd's I have ever seen.

cool story about billy thorpe as well.....i freaking love children of the sun.

Re: Peter Frampton

I'm so out of the music loop.  I didn't know Frampton did a DVD of the Comes Alive recently.  I wonder if I missed the ad in Classic Rock Magazine?  I'll have to check it out.  Thanks for the mention masque. :-)

I was listening to Comes Alive again today and just can't get the intro to Lines on My Face out of my head and the solo part. It's so pristine.  I don't play the guitar so I have no idea what note he's hitting but it's one that is a relatively high but it just rings so beautifully. I guess it's the overall tone.

Kind of reminds me of when Joe did a Guitar Sessions video about using a slide.  Same kind of sound - sort of.

Thorpe's Children of the Sun is a great, I just bought East of Eden's Gate and 21st Century Man as I'm not familiar with the rest of Thorpe's catalogue.
