Topic: Taking a Leave

Hey all,

I have a lot on my plate between now and December. I might be away for a while.
As you can see from my avatar, I'm playing football for Oakland University. Yes, a 33 year old football player. I came out of retirement after 14 years. I've been sore ever since, but it is worth it.
I'm also the football team's faculty adviser, and the team is brand new to the college... so there's too much to be done.
If that's not enough, I'm enrolled in a PhD program a the university for educational leadership.
I'm teaching photoshop online for a nearby Community College.
and in my band Stroller Coaster. My fall is jam packed.

But of course, I'm winding pickups and doing graphics work "in my free time" LOL

I love this forum, and I know I won't be able to post as much as I'd like. I will lurk whenever I can, and if there's a gear post that I cannot resist, I'll likely chime in cool

I've had two xrays already, one on my knee - negative. Just my leg muscles were so tight it was pulling my knee tendons uncomfortably. Xrayed my ribs also negative... so i'm practicing and playing with bruised ribs. That hurts pretty much constantly. Chiropractor says they get bumped out of alignment where the meet the sternum. I was already seeing a chiropractor for back and neck adjustments... it's a good investment.

I can fit right in with the 18-22 year olds. It's pretty remarkable. I'm sure when they wake up the next morning, they are not half as sore as I am though lol It is more fun than it was when I was 19, and it seems like the game is going slower than I remember. Maybe I'm just getting smarter. ha. It is a HUGE time commitment, if my body can get through it maybe I'll do it again next year but it could come down to the wire Favre-style. Just trying to do all I can this year, maybe I'll go out on top.

Our scrimmage... I caught the first pass. I was targeted twice and caught both passes for positive yards.

Our first game was last week again UM-Flint. We won 24-14.
Before we created this football team, there were parody shirts that say "undefeated since 1957" and now that we won our first game, people are saying that shirt is still relevant lol
