What's the catch?!! That's like, €760eur... Epiphones go for that kinda money here!!! If it wasn't for the shipping and import duty I'd buy that in a heartbeat!!

I think the Studios were around $1250 - $1400 street price new in the US...

I've seen them for sale second hand on the Gear Page etc. for around $1000, so this one is in the ballpark.  I think the cheapest one was a guy who REALLY wanted to move his that listed it for $700 or so.

NB: New in Australia, they are around $2200, so this one at CME would be an absolute bargain if it is in good condition - even with shipping!  Being retailed at under $1000, it would also be exempt from duties and taxes...

Man Australia has it right.

Anything over €200 so about $260 (including the shipping cost) is subject to import duty here in Ireland. Duty at 21% of the total sales price + shipping.

It's heartbreaking!!

Wow - I can see why getting a guitar into Ireland can be difficult!  I am assuming England/Scotland etc. are similar?

We have a $1000 limit.  Under that, no duties or taxes.  Over that, there is 10% GST (Goods and Services Tax, similar to your VAT) and also 5% duty for guitars and amplifiers.

I think Britain is similar, not sure if the cut off is the same and their import duty is 17.5%

The price seems right. I paid $1300 for a new (non JB) LP Studio in Wine Red late last year.
