Topic: Eric Clapton to release book about his guitars

From the same guys that published Jimmy Page's picture autobiography

Eric Clapton has documented his guitars and amplifiers in a new book titled Six String Stories, which includes photos and background information on nearly 300 instruments and amps that span the five decades of his career, beginning with his early days through the ’60s and until his 2010 auction benefitting The Crossroads Centre.

A limited-edition of 2,000 copies, each will be signed by Clapton and hand-bound in cherry-red leather with gold and silver blocking, housed in a silk-screened buckram slipcase. The book’s 376 pages are edged in gold. Included within the book is a 50-year documentation of Clapton’s performance history that allows the reader to further reference the guitars against Clapton’s life’s work.  Historical and technical information is provided for every piece. Re: Eric Clapton to release book about his guitars

I'd love to have this book, but the price is a bit high for me.

I'm trying not to pull the immediate trigger....

Re: Eric Clapton to release book about his guitars

nothing like pricing something so as to ignore the mass market and exclude 1000's eh? No wonder kids are not engaged with the likes of EC, - maybe I am missing something but EC started out with nothing and was inspired by having access to something that he loved and then emulated.  - When I saw the thread title thought to myself what a great book to give to my 14 year old son.... maybe not? - I do understand that this is limited edition and signed so of course it has a high value, - hopefully they will produce a more accessible print run sometime.

I'ill get down from the soap-box now. smile Sorry about that.

It's not a book for the faint of heart money wise.  The same as tickets to his shows.  When I was a older teen we paid $1.50 and $2.50 to see groups in Central Park.

Hey, I couldn't agree with you more. I don't like Eric Clapton at all, never did, but I bet this would be a cool book to look thru. I don't know what is with all the "limited edition" crap everywhere and with everything, but if they wanna do a special edition of the book- fine. But how about another one without the autograph and fancy leather for everyone else.
