Re: JB Fans in the Southern States

the aquarium is a great idea, I was thinking more about music but that would still be a possibility tonight. Mike is stuck in Atlanta today and tonight due to the heavy line of storms coming through. Central and east Alabama are under a tornado watch that will probably be extended into west Georgia. It's coming through Birmingham as I type this, hell will break loose any minute, 45-60 mph winds, lotsa lightning. I hope Mike reads this and hits the fish tank for sure.

Re: JB Fans in the Southern States

Got the message. Staying in Atlanta today and I've picked up all the flyers. Maybe the Gone with the wind musuem is appropriate considering.

Normally when I turn up somewheres it is just bad news. But now I'm bad weather too.

Re: JB Fans in the Southern States

Might go to see Chelsea Wolfe at the Earl tonight if can find it, and the was back! She looks a bit 'alternat ive', but hey, music is supposed to be an experience.

If I make it I'll report back. Another option is Tony Morrows BBQ pit in College Park. Hmmmm, sound tasty.

Re: JB Fans in the Southern States

So Atlanta.
Well the storm is here and in a way it s a perfect storm.
Why? Because I am ina brewery and I can't go out.
Me and the barman now have a thing going on. Basically I take the next beer on the list and he brings it.

Re: JB Fans in the Southern States

I can recommend Max Red. None of t these beers is under 5%. This is good. Belgian 'Demon D'Or' is 11.5%. Things are getting serious and I don't just mean the weather.

Welcome to the new world of US craft beers. big_smile All the rage now and catching, nay even sometimes surpassing the great beers of Europe. The South (of California wink ) is a hotbed of them. big_smile Yes, this isn't your normal 3.2 swill.

Re: JB Fans in the Southern States

well, I became very concerned yesterday when we lost contact somehow. I thought he would be in Birmingham early afternoon but never got a call, something wrong with phone service on one or both ends. I'm hoping we can do lunch today since it's not too far to Nashville.

Re: JB Fans in the Southern States

Tres,
I only justbsaw your post. I sent an E-mail. Did you not get that one? That was on the 1st already. In the mail I thought I had explained everything that happened.

Bham-Nashville is like 190 miles. I wasn't intending to backtrack but if you have a suggestion for a meet then email me at hansamike@gmx.de. that way whenever I get online I see the message.

I've been trying to get out and actually do stuff instead of sorting out motels, credit card problems. When I wanted to go online yesterday then the hotels service was down.
Its all proving a lot more difficult than I thought it would be. I won't go into details on here. I'm still in Nashville and will make the decision tomorrow morning whether to stay here and catch the Superbowl or move on somewhere else.

I have to say, now I have had a chance to look around, Nashville is an interesting town. Architecture and history of course. Did the Grand 'ol Opry tour today which was fun. Stood on the stage, on the wooden circle there. No chance to sing though. The District is full of bars and every one has a live band at some point in the afternoon and evening. I saw one combo breaking down in one joint and then moving across the road for another set somewhere else.

Foodwise it has been a disappointment so far, but there have been reasons for that I guess. Did the River Brewery this evening. Nice beer and a flame grilled Meatloaf with mash and vegetables and mushroom gravy. Nice and filling on a cold day. Snowed here this morning.

Re: JB Fans in the Southern States

Mike made his way back to Birmingham today, headed back to Atlanta. He has had the trip cut short due to a business emergency of sorts, will fly out of Atlanta tomorrow. We had a very nice visit, talked pretty much nonstop about anything and everything, and did some lunch at the Irondale Cafe. You probably know this better as the Whistle Stop Cafe from the movie Fried Green Tomatoes. Yep, it's still there and I believe Mike had his first fried green tomato ever, and he got some pics. I really enjoyed chatting with him, it was over way too soon and he had to hit the road. Well, I'm hoping he can make it back this way again some time.
