If you have a '63 strat I'll give you $1000 cash for it right now, regardless who - if anyone - played it. Heck, I'll give you $2k just for kicks.

DITTO!!!!  I'LL GO 4K

Re: One of Joe's Strats is on eBay...

LOL! 1grand is like saying it's worth 28 tongue Obviously it's a vintage guitar and it will not lose value because of that plus that it was one of Joe's previously. But 28k... You have to be a rich, crazy, Joe Bonamassa fan to pay that amount and I'm only two of those...

Re: One of Joe's Strats is on eBay...

Is this the guitar from his instructional video? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TFyHr0f9LZw

That is a great question.  Tough call...  If it is it clearly had seen better days up until it went up on ebay.  It looks to be in better shape in the video.  Also, someone added an extra string tree at some point.

Re: One of Joe's Strats is on eBay...

I'm not sure, but I would be uncomfortable buying a 28K vintage guitar, that the current owner is taking apart for pictures...who knows what else he has dissassembeled and inspected just for kicks...

In all honesty, that is the norm.  In fact, I'd want to see much more detail than he has shown.  There are lots of fakes and modified guitars out there and it is in the buyers best interest to know what to look for in order to determine originality.  Sometimes this requires going under the hood, removing the tuners (in particular the D tuner on a strat for example), etc...

Obviously more wear but if you look at the wear on the back of the Youtube guitar it is totally different above the springs. I would say they are not the same guitar. Maybe Joe will chime in and give a little history.

Goldie sold for 30K plus fees and Goldie was not a not a 62 vintage. This one while not as visible in Joe's career it has some pretty cool pedigree having been pictured in ANDY liner notes.

So It could bring near 25K. I don't know what a 62 brings without Joe's value added but buying it for vintage alone would be a consideration if it checked out. I think it's history with Joe does absolutely make it more valuable.  There is too much evidence out there for his guitars bringing a premium over whatever the value would be without his previous ownership.

Thats what I was going to say.  Most vintage Fenders you have to take the neck off to adjust the neck truss rod anyway.  Its pretty standard for people to take a guitar apart to check for stamps on the neck and body, or to see the stamped numbers on the back of pots to see what year they were made.  Even Blackie was dismantled to make exact reissues of the original.  I wouldn't worry about that at all.

Just teasing a strat people wink

I see why old gibson's are expensive, made of mahogany of that time..just can't find anymore.
So tell a Les Paul player what special '63 Strat have that explain the prize? No disrespect...

Re: One of Joe's Strats is on eBay...

I was totally at the meet and greet where the pictures were taken. It was in May 2010 at the Walton Arts Center in Fayetteville, Arkansas. I remember Joe looking at the guitar. He clearly remembered it and had a lot of info about it. Right afterwards I gave him a Razorback Jersey. Still isn't worth 28k, but cool to see that guitar again.
