Topic: Hoults Yard, Newcastle-upon-Tyne; anyone been?

It may well be I’ve been asleep and missed this, but just caught word today of a new venue in Newcastle, that may have something going for it as its already managed to attract Bad Manners and Ian McCulloch. Okay, not the usual names you see mentioned on the forum, but big enough acts to fall between The Cluny and the O2 Academy.

The place is called Hoult’s Yard and is in Byker, about a quarter mile from The Cluny, along the Walker Road (A186). Looks like its some re-development in part of the old shipyards, from the website, seems to be all sortts going on there. http://houltsyard.wordpress.com/

Pros and cons, well, proximity to The Cluny could be interesting, though I’m guessing Hoults may win on size but then why not The Riverside? However, The Cluny is established and has a certain “buzz”. May be worth keeping an eye on in the future.
