Topic: what happened to the Cat5 "jub"?

Just checked their website and seems like it is not listed.  Did JB even get to play one live?

There are two Cat 5 amps listed on the Signature Amps page:

Re: what happened to the Cat5 "jub"?

There was discussion about these a little while back.  I thought that was the same one Ron bought in combo form.  I'm sure he'll chime in.   Don R. offered to sell me the one he was sending off for a mag. review, but was far too expensive for me.  Don was also going to update the website, some time ago, so not sure what the deal is.  I've yet to hear a recording, so who knows what they sound like.

Yeah I have the combo form and the head. These are great amps more versitial then the Jubliee in the rhythm channel to me. I keep meaning to put up some clips but sooooo busy working on my CD. I have not heard from Don lately concerning the Cat 5 Jubllee. I will give him a shout to see if he can chime in.
Cheers Ron

Re: what happened to the Cat5 "jub"?

thanks guys.  i just often wonder "what happened?" with some of the gear JB may have used or designed/endorsed.  The Bogner never came to fruition (as far as I know), then never saw clips of JB playing this cat 5 jubs; also never saw him play his 50 watter JB cat 5.  Figured he would have with the new rig he has going; obviously doesn't matter to me, just wondering really.  got to keep things fresh.  wish I had woodshed more as a youth big_smile

Re: what happened to the Cat5 "jub"?

They exist,  Just not up on website(going through a major site change).  Joe has two of the 100 watt versions and one of the 50 watt combo's.  They were in the rig last year, along with a 68 style.  This year he has a marshall vintage rig, with no jubilee style amps.  Still available, just let me know.  don@category5amps.com

Re: what happened to the Cat5 "jub"?

I just aquired one of the 50 heads. This JB-50 Custom has the Jubilee tone on the lead channel when the input gain is set from about 4-7. To me the lead channel gets more into a Soldano style gain/tone when the Input Gain is dimed. The amps has great sustain & very quite. The Rythm Channel to me is much like a mid 70's Master Volume Marshall. It can be very clean or get gritty by adjusting the Saturation. The mid boost on the back of them amp added depth to the tone the some Jubilee I have played lack. I have owned 6 different Jubilee amps over the years. The Channels are much more level to each other Volume wise then the Marshall Jubilee. Very impressed with this amp. It will stay with me for a long time. It does not loose it tone when played at lower volumes as well.

Re: what happened to the Cat5 "jub"?

Thanks guys.  I have been on the lookout for a SJ, but not necessarily Marshall. Just need to shed a few more items.  Oh the life of the struggling musician!
