Re: wouldnt it be cool to see joe with a strat again !!

Joe has played a Strat and a very special Tele on some recent recordings. Will he use them onstage? I'm sure we'll see soon enough. Be patient. All good things come in time.

What was that good reason? A personal feud with the Fender company? Bad sound couldn't be the reason ;-)
In my eyes, a player of Joe's format has to play Strats, too.

yes...a spirited feud with Fender....i guess you could say....lol...in addition, joe says he got tired of everyone automatically seeing "white boy playing the blues means he's a SRV wanna be".

Re: wouldnt it be cool to see joe with a strat again !!

No, it would NOT be cool to see Joe play a Fender Stratocaster LIVE again...it would be very, VERY cool cool cool to see Joe Bonamassa play a Fender Stratocaster (vintage only!) LIVE again!!!!!!!

Did you learn of Joe after 2006? Goldie, Blackie, the Esquire, and the Gigliotti were played a lot during those earlier years.

I loved that Esquire!! I'd be ecstatic to see that guitar back in rotation!!

Re: wouldnt it be cool to see joe with a strat again !!

I honestly have been a Les Paul Guy for so long it is very difficult for me to play Stratocasters anymore..  I broke out one of my vintage models for the last Rock Candy Funk Party gig... It lasted one song and it felt very foreign to me..  I kind of have done a reverse slowhand.   We will see...

i understand what you mean.....i love strats and own a few but I mostly play my Ernie Ball and PRS guitars along with a LP.......so when I get in the "mood" for a strat there are times it feels pretty good and other times it feels like a stranger in my hands.

Re: wouldnt it be cool to see joe with a strat again !!

My favorite guitar I own [*]is an American Strat.  It was just a guitar on the wall I picked up to test out an amp 11 years ago.  Never did buy that amp, but I've worn that poor Stratocaster out.  I go though periods where I won't play it because I wanna play a Gibson due to the heavy tones I'm playing right now, but every time I grab that guitar out of the case its like slipping on a pair of your favorite jeans.  Now that I have a humbucker in it I play it once again all the time.[/*]

Re: wouldnt it be cool to see joe with a strat again !!

Every generation needs a consistent LP player.  A player who is known to make it cry, to make it sing, to make it bark.  Let us be grateful that JB is such a player for our generation.  I will however add my two cents (everybody jusst HAS to have an opinion) that I still love/miss his old Budda+Marshall rig.  Maybe it is because that is when I first discovered his solo work, as I was familiar with Bloodline and owned the record.  I am considering a return to Budda myself, if i can find a superdrive 30 or 45 in the handwired version, I may sell/trade the Orange.

we'll see.  tough to find the pre-peavey ones so unless I can get a good trade deal on the rocker 30... yeah i had an old twinmaster plus combo and wish i still did... unfortunately my singer pulled what i will call a "glen hughes" so even if i wanted to buy it back from him i don't think i could...  i am patient and my tone is pretty happening, i just get amp dyslexic every year, and this is what I call a "bonamassa" :-)

Re: wouldnt it be cool to see joe with a strat again !!

Hasn't this topic been beat to death though?

Also, does it really matter? I bet if Joe started playing a Strat again, there'd be an even bigger influx of fans proclaiming their nostalgic laments over Joe's 'Les Paul days'. Really is a waste of energy to be honest.

Sorry if that comes across as flippant, but to be fair i had to reason myself out of saying the words 'Who cares?' in reply to this topic

Just my initial opinion, I'm open to being convinced otherwise smile

Re: wouldnt it be cool to see joe with a strat again !!

certainly a vast majority of the topics have been beaten half to death if one searches the history of forums; I am guilty of a vast amount of annoyance, quite often actually.  I consider a good chunk of topics irrelevant, uninteresting, repetitive, obsessive, and really self-masturbatory.  However, we must remember that new members come in all the time, don't bother to search before posting.  Current members, for a good chunk of time, are just trying to keep the forum afloat and conversations going.  Often times topics deviate within and can lead to good discussions.  Let us not censor.

Valid point. I concede that may be the case for new members, but for regular users of the forum it must get a bit repetitive.

And i agree, i would never advocate censoring, i merely would suggest informing new members of the avenues of topic-finding that you mentioned (ie. searching etc) before piling in replies to such topics.

It honestly is small stuff, the only reason i take issue with it now is because of the mundane and (in my view) pointless choice of topic at hand. The idea of lamenting over Joe's guitar choice really is not my idea of a good time, and i merely sought to voice that view, and hopefully i did so without being overly abrasive.

Thanks for your points by the way, i overlooked that when i originally posted

Agree, too much censorship in life anyway. If it's boring no one will post. If they do what's wrong with that? Life is too short... big_smile
