Topic: Montgomery, AL show 12/5

Looking forward to next Wednesday's show in Montgomery.  Been counting down the days for the past few months.  Will be the first time to see Joe live.  Discovered his music on Pandora a couple years ago and have been telling everyone since to check him out.  I've been a Drummer for 40 years and my son is becoming a great guitar player at 17.  Going to see the show with him and the wife and my son's best friend (who also plays guitar and drums) and his parents.

From what everyone is saying on here it should be a great show.  Will report back next week with a review.

I haven't seen on any set lists where Joe has done Reconsider Baby, but would love to hear that live as it's one of my favorite JB songs.

Welcome to the forum. Reconsider hasn't been played in a very long time. That phase is pretty much gone and newer and fresher music has replaced it. Enjoy the show, you should get a kick out of Tal on the kit as well as Joe, Rick and Carmine. The band as a whole is just superb and tight as they come.

Re: Montgomery, AL show 12/5

a hearty welcome from here in Birmingham, looking forward to your review of the show. I really wish I could be there, but the fact is I just don't have the funds to allow at this time. Hope you all have a great time of it.

Re: Montgomery, AL show 12/5

I am more excited about seeing joe for the first time than I am about a possible promotion coming up soon!!!  I have never seen him and until 2.5 months ago never heard him.  I had seen his name when he rolled thru Birmingham probably 6 months ago and had no idea what i passed up on.  I have been blessed in my life to see TONS of great music and I cannot remember the last time i have been this excited about a show.  I am going by myself cause the wife cant make it and all my loser friends are getting to old apparently.  Solo first time Joe Show--Stoked!!!!!

Heading to Montgomery!

Last time Joe played Alabama I introduced him to Gip Gipson, Birmingham's own blues legend and owner of Gip's Juke Joint in Bessemer.  Joe wore a Gip's shirt for his encore.
Special indeed!

Re: Montgomery, AL show 12/5

Well He definetly did it!!!  I feel like I shouldve been writing it down every time my mind was blown like in that Sonic commercial.  Like I mentioned I have had the pleasure of being a part of many nights of music from numerous artists and Last Night is in the top 2 for many reasons.  The guy is just Nasty.  He gets the side of music that makes people like me VERY happy.  The entire band is GREAT.    I dont want to sound like a little school-girl so I will leave it alone but that was the first of what will be many Joe Bonamassa Shows.  Maybe I will take the Wife to the Beacon??

Re: Montgomery, AL show 12/5

Ok, went to the show last night and was blown away.  Unbelievable talent.  We all had a great time and can't wait to see JB again.  The band was very tight as well and Joe's playing was just absolutely phenomenal.  I've been to alot of concerts over the years and I would have to rate this one right up there at the top.  The playlist was fantastic and I got to hear some songs I hadn't yet heard so that was great.  I had a great set of Nikon Binoculars too, so we all shared them for some great close-up viewing.   Woooo - Hoooo!!!!  Oh yeah,  found out this morning that some of the higher ups at the business I work at attended also and they too were raving about it.  Had a good conversation with the GM and I told him about another great musician I discovered on Pandora as well, Gary Moore.  Sadly, he died in 2011 at 58.  If you haven't listened to him, you owe it to yourself to check him out.  His last CD- made in 2008- is awesome.  Some hard rockers, and some great slow blues.

Just one question for someone who posted about Joe not doing Reconsider live in a while.  When you say he moved on and is playing fresher music, I don't quite get that, as I feel that song should be as much a staple as Blues Deluxe, Ballad of John Henry, Midnight Blues, young Man's Blues, etc.  Do you not agree?   IMHO,  Reconsider Baby is one of the best songs he's ever done.   It's so great how it starts out slowly and builds to such an incredible climax, it's very powerful.  Love that song.

Y'all have a good one....

Hi nacho, and welcome to the Forum.  Nice having you among the Bonapostles and glad you were blown away at the show!  Yes, wife + Beacon = best idea of the night.

Yeah, lvtheblues, ask anyone on here their favorite Joe tune they think Joe should play live and you will get as many answers.  Just too many excellent choices with Joe!
